Not everything you feel is a relationship problem.
Not everything you feel is a spiritual problem.
Not everything you feel is just stress.

Sometimes your body is distorting the signal.

When blood sugar is unstable, sleep is fragmented, when inflammation is high, when cortisol is doing damage control, your brain does not interpret life the same way it does when you're thriving.

Patience drops.
Connection feels harder.
Small things feel big.
And you start building stories about what it all means.

Functional medicine MUST include ALL of you. Period.
You must have a practitioner who understands ALL of you, not just your symptoms. We call that allopathic or traditional medicine- Chase symptoms with the newest and greatest technology and forget the innate intelligence of the body must be healed in layers.

So when you come into my clinic or into the Wilderness of Wellness saying to me you are struggling with your marriage, you're touched out as a mom, you're stressed and insecure because you're single... I already know you're dealing with low-lying inflammation at minimum.

If you feel this, it might be time to check your glucose. There’s a pattern I see over and over in clinic:

Blood sugar instability → cortisol spikes → nervous system overload → emotional reactivity → shame → repeat.

When blood sugar crashes, cortisol rises. When cortisol rises, patience drops. When patience drops, the story inside your head changes.

And people start questioning their marriages, their whole lives, actually, when what’s really unstable is their metabolism.

You weren’t conditioned to be healthy. You were conditioned to be quiet.

Most Christian women don’t realize your good girl upbringing is wrecking your health.
If you learned to be the easy one, the polite one, the selfless one, get perfect grades, be the agreeable one, emotions weren't safe so you stayed emotionally silent, to be the woman who doesn't need anything... your body pays the price.

Good girl conditioning shows up as:

🔥 anxiety
🔥 blood sugar instability
🔥 hormonal ups and downs
🔥 stress overload
🔥 resentment
🔥 low libido
🔥 freeze response in any kind of environment you can't control
🔥 chronic fatigue

Most Christian women raised in purity culture weren't taught to understand their body.

❤️❤️ Double tap if you were raised in purity culture in the 90s.

While purity culture's premise was just that, pure, it didn't provide the support with it. It was just fear, silence, suppress and that manifested in so many ways in how we women today deal with things.

We pretend everything is fine. We don't ask for help because that's a weak woman, right? We simply pretend. We perform. We aren't authentic nor present.

So when it comes to intimacy in our marriages we may be in a place where we think something is wrong with us.

You don’t have to keep holding everything together at the expense of your health.

So many women were raised to be the steady one, the caretaker, the emotional shock absorber — with zero room for their own needs.

But surviving on adrenaline, cortisol, caffeine, and guilt is burnout (aka, heart disease, diabetes, elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, mental health destruction, autoimmunity...)

You’re ALLOWED to stop over-functioning
You’re ALLOWED to ask for support
You’re ALLOWED to stop being the backbone for everyone while your own body breaks down

So many women were taught to eat less, push harder, and ignore hunger cues — then feel ashamed when the evening hits like a freight train.

But when your blood sugar is unstable, your cortisol is fried, and you’ve spent all day managing everyone else’s emotions…

Your body doesn’t need judgment... there's enough mean girl energy out there. Your body needs relief.
