We feel truly blessed that 13 courageous veterans have chosen Kauhale Centerville as their home; and today we were proud to show our immense gratitude with a heartfelt ceremony, thanks to Suncrest Hospice, accompanied by Providence Road's mesmerizing entertainment and a delectable private feast of filet mignon, roasted balsamic glaze tri-color carrots, peppers, mushrooms and onions, parmesan risotto, salad with Santa Fe ranch and rosemary croutons, and bourbon brûlée with fresh berries for dessert. Happy Veterans Day!

Our trick-or-treat event was a huge success, our largest attendance to date! The residents had a great time handing out candy and trinkets to all the children. Ranger Vic showed us some magic tricks and twisted up some balloon animals. We enjoyed a visit from Petunia, the therapy unicorn, and there were lots of treats. We did encounter one trick, but luckily the Centerville gang solved the case—the villain was none other than our very own Miss Lett, Executive Director of Kauhale Centerville, who was going around all night stealing chocolate from the trick-or-treat buckets. A huge thank you to everyone who donated candy!t

Our beloved friend and Birthday Queen Bobbye celebrated 103 vibrant years on Tuesday, and her response to the secret of her long life was as inspiring as it was simple: “To live.”

Our trip to Carillon Historical Park was so many things, fun, educational, reminiscent and for some a first. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Culp's Cafe, followed by a golf cart tour of the grounds, explored the buildings, rode the carousel and the train. One of the best moments of our day was when some children on a field trip joined us in the schoolhouse and our friend Mary, who was one of the first tour guides at the park, taught us a short lesson and had us recite The Pledge of Allegiance.

There’s only one thing to do with freshly cleaned out pumpkins, while some opted to carve their pumpkin others used acrylic paint markers to decorate theirs. And all the seeds we so tirelessly scooped yesterday were used to make garlic parm, cinnamon sugar and of course the classic salted pumpkin seeds, our favorite hands down were the cinnamon sugar roasted, not only was it fun it was also educational as we learned about all of the health benefits of eating pumpkin seeds.
