🩺 Health Talk This Week: Hepatitis C — What You May Not Know
In this week’s discussion, we talked about something many people are surprised to learn: Hepatitis C is no longer the life-long illness it once was.
👉 Hepatitis C can be chronic, but today it is also curable.
👉 Most treatments involve oral medications (pills) taken for as little as 8–12 weeks, with very high cure rates.
We also discussed an important and hopeful topic in transplantation:
🫀 Patients can now safely receive organs from donors who had Hepatitis C, because the virus can be treated and cured after transplant. This has opened doors for more life-saving transplants and shorter wait times.
Medicine has come a long way — and staying informed helps us make better health decisions for ourselves and our families. Knowledge really is power (and sometimes peace of mind).
