As a dedicated member of the Miami Valley Hospital Board of Trustees and later the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation Board, the late Al Dunn believed deeply in service and community. In the late 1970s, after learning trauma patients had a far greater chance of survival if treated within the “Golden Hour,” Al asked a simple but powerful question: What if Dayton had a medical helicopter like the military?

With the leadership and support of the Miami Valley Hospital Board, that vision became CareFlight. Since launching in 1983, CareFlight has transported more than 90,000 patients and continues to deliver lifesaving care when every minute matters.

For nearly 30 years, Rusty Proffitt struggled to manage his diabetes—until he found the Bull Family Diabetes Center in Dayton. Today, his A1C is 6.2, down from nearly 12.

Rusty’s journey is one of many made possible by The Valley Classic—a golf tournament hosted by Miami Valley Hospital Foundation that benefits diabetes education.

It may be cold outside, but the course will be heating up this May! Join Atrium Medical Center Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Middletown on Friday, May 15 for the 32nd Annual James A. Combs Memorial Golf Tournament at Wildwood Golf Club.

Proceeds are split between the Foundation and the Kiwanis Club to provide eyeglasses for those in need, support local scholarships, and benefit vital programs at Atrium Medical Center, including the Maternal Health Center, Family Birth Center, emergency and trauma services, and the HEAL program.

Every year, Atrium Medical Center Foundation and Atrium Auxiliary Middletown provide scholarships to help further the education of our caregivers and their children.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Foundation is awarding more than $100,000 in scholarships and continuing education opportunities for employees this year. Additionally, Atrium Auxiliary Middletown will grant nearly $20,000 to employee dependents and former junior volunteers pursuing a degree in health care.
