Every five minutes, a woman is diagnosed with a gynecologic (GYN) cancer. The HPV vaccine protects against the types of HPV that cause most types of gynecologic cancers and is recommended for all women under age 26. Every woman should receive a yearly Pap smear and talk to their doctor if they have any unusual symptoms.

"As a nurse working in the cardiac care environment at Halifax Health, Jennifer Adamy thought her heart palpitation episodes weren’t cause for any major concern.

But these episodes not only continued, but they also took a gradual turn for the worse over the years, to the point Adamy would pass out for a few minutes.

The New Smyrna Beach resident and mother of two teenagers knew she had to do something about it.

“You are you best advocate,” Adamy said. “You know your body, you know how it works. If something’s wrong, you want to be vocal about what is wrong.”"
