At The Orthopedic Clinic, our physicians are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in orthopedic care. Their dedication to learning, teaching, and exploring new techniques extends far beyond the exam room — and this week was a perfect example.

Dr. Brian Hatten recently traveled to Palm Beach Gardens to record two educational cadaver videos for Depuy Synthes (Johnson and Johnson MedTech). These videos will demonstrate and teach the nuances of his complete muscle-sparing approach for knee replacements. They will also highlight the robotic integration of his advanced Kinematic Alignment (KA) technique.

Kinematic Alignment is a technique that Dr. Hatten uses to precisely resurface the knee to each patient’s unique anatomy, creating a natural balance of the knee ligaments. By restoring the knee to how it was originally designed to move, patients often experience shorter recovery times, reduced pain, better motion, improved satisfaction, and a more natural feel after surgery.

One of the recorded sessions will be featured in a physician-only webinar he’ll co-host with Dr. Joshua Lindsey from Southwest Health, in December. The second video will serve as a broader training resource for surgeons who want to learn and adopt these patient-centered techniques.

Pictured with Dr. Hatten are Matt Cianciolo and Steve Greggo with DePuy Synthes. We appreciate their continued collaboration and partnership with us!

We’re proud of our physicians’ commitment to advancing orthopedic care — and even prouder of the impact it has on the patients we serve.

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Deanne Freeburn, Lead Medical Assistant for Dr. Albert Gillespy, who has been an essential part of The Orthopedic Clinic for an incredible 29 years.

Deanne’s journey is a clear reminder of what it means to build a true career here at TOC. She started with a passion for patient care. Through hard work and the support of her team, she has grown into a trusted leader who helps set the standard for excellence in our clinic every day.

One of our favorite things to hear is Deanne’s perspective on our culture. She shares how TOC has become more than a workplace to her: a place where people invest in you, support your goals, and encourage you to grow. Her story is a testament to what longevity looks like when you feel valued, supported, and part of something meaningful.

Join us in celebrating Deanne and all she has contributed over nearly three decades. We’re grateful for her commitment to our patients, our providers, and our team.

Our team is always learning and growing!

The women of our leadership team were proud to attend the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce Women2Women Luncheon, which is held every year.

We heard from an empowering speaker, Ryan Rugg, on the importance of networking and how to balance work and life, without giving up on advancing your career.

It was an inspiring experience filled with motivation, insightful discussions, and powerful stories celebrating women in business. We left feeling energized, grateful, and even more committed to supporting and uplifting women in leadership.

Thank you to the women on our leadership team that helps run the day to day operations here!

Keep Moving, No Matter Your Age

This Movember, let’s talk about men’s health — starting with your joints.

Too often, men brush off pain as “just part of life.” But joint pain at any age deserves attention.

✔️Early signs of osteoarthritis often begin in the knees and hips.
✔️Preventive exercise + early diagnosis can protect your mobility for years.
✔️Our orthopedic specialists focus on keeping men active and pain-free.

Your body tells you when something’s off. This month, listen to it.

Schedule a visit, get moving again, and make men’s health a priority.

Our Story

The Orthopedic Clinic has been helping greater Daytona Beach area patients live their life in full motion with expert orthopedic care for over 50 years. The practice has grown to include 12 physicians, 10 mid-level providers, with a professional staff of more than 150 taking care of patients at 5 convenient locations. The Orthopedic Clinic offers physical therapy, the area’s only orthopedic walk-in clinic, and a state-of-the-art surgery center. With offices in Daytona Beach, Port Orange and Palm Coast, The Orthopedic Clinic is the largest and most comprehensive orthopedic practice in the area.

The Orthopedic Clinic was founded in 1961 by Dr. Thurman Gillespy Jr., who was one of the first orthopedic surgeon in the Daytona Beach community. His practice provided much needed orthopedic care that wasn’t previously available, and it quickly grew to a multi-provider practice in East Central Florida.

Dr. Gillespy trained in an orthopedics program in Philadelphia, PA, where he met Dr. Gilbert Martin, Dr. Willis Stose and Dr. Mel Dodd who joined The Orthopedic clinic shortly after its inception. The founding partners believed that orthopedics was about treating the individual patient, not just the illness. They took the patient’s lifestyle and health goals into account before recommending a treatment plan.

Today, we still follow in our founder’s footsteps. Our mission is to provide quality, cost-effective healthcare to the community-one patient at a time.
