Our CEO, Shannon Stewartson, joined a dynamic panel on technology in orthopedics, while Dr. Christopher Matthews led the physicians' networking session and sparked some great conversations.

Dr. Christopher J. Matthews, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, has been with The Orthopedic Clinic since 2018. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures, microsurgery, and comprehensive care for hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder conditions. Dr. Matthews is dedicated to helping patients regain function, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love most.

💙 Physician Assistant Alison Hart, PA-C works closely with Dr. Matthews to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of upper extremity conditions.
💙 Physician Assistant Lucas Corbin, PA-C provides comprehensive care and supports patients throughout their treatment and recovery.
💙 Lead Medical Assistant Susan Stanford, CMA ensures each patient visit is smooth, comfortable, and well-organized.
💙 Surgical Coordinator Laura Cote manages scheduling and coordinates surgical care with attention to detail and compassion.

This is Dr. Matthews’s lead care team, but we know it takes so many dedicated professionals to make exceptional care possible. Not pictured here are the countless other MAs, RNs, X-Ray Technologists, Patient Services, and other team members who make Dr. Matthews’s service a success.

Chylsie Robbins joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2013, where she quickly discovered her passion for serving patients and supporting high-quality care. Over the years, she has gained extensive knowledge and experience through a variety of key roles, including Patient Services Department Lead, Charge Poster and Self-Pay/Collections Specialist in the Billing Office, and most recently, Patient Services Supervisor.

Now serving as Patient Services Manager, Chylsie oversees several essential departments, including the Patient Access Call Center, Front Desk operations at all TOC locations, and the Surgery Scheduling team. In this role, she is committed to improving workflow processes, meeting benchmark standards, and ensuring patient care aligns with The Orthopedic Clinic’s mission and values.

Chylsie brings a thoughtful and balanced approach to leadership, always considering the needs of patients, providers, and staff when making decisions. She is especially passionate about fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth, teamwork, and professional development across her teams.

Chylsie remains deeply dedicated to enhancing the overall patient experience and strengthening the foundation of care at The Orthopedic Clinic.

This past week, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. McCall at the Cranes Lake community in Port Orange, where he presented “Understanding Hip Pain: What Your Joints Are Trying to Tell You.”

Dr. McCall shared valuable insights into the causes of hip pain, how to recognize what our joints may be signaling, and treatment options available to help people get back to doing what they love.

It was inspiring to see such strong community interest in joint health and wellness, and we are grateful to everyone who joined us for this important conversation.

Our Story

The Orthopedic Clinic has been helping greater Daytona Beach area patients live their life in full motion with expert orthopedic care for over 50 years. The practice has grown to include 12 physicians, 10 mid-level providers, with a professional staff of more than 150 taking care of patients at 5 convenient locations. The Orthopedic Clinic offers physical therapy, the area’s only orthopedic walk-in clinic, and a state-of-the-art surgery center. With offices in Daytona Beach, Port Orange and Palm Coast, The Orthopedic Clinic is the largest and most comprehensive orthopedic practice in the area.

The Orthopedic Clinic was founded in 1961 by Dr. Thurman Gillespy Jr., who was one of the first orthopedic surgeon in the Daytona Beach community. His practice provided much needed orthopedic care that wasn’t previously available, and it quickly grew to a multi-provider practice in East Central Florida.

Dr. Gillespy trained in an orthopedics program in Philadelphia, PA, where he met Dr. Gilbert Martin, Dr. Willis Stose and Dr. Mel Dodd who joined The Orthopedic clinic shortly after its inception. The founding partners believed that orthopedics was about treating the individual patient, not just the illness. They took the patient’s lifestyle and health goals into account before recommending a treatment plan.

Today, we still follow in our founder’s footsteps. Our mission is to provide quality, cost-effective healthcare to the community-one patient at a time.
