On this Grief Awareness Day, we pause to recognize the profound impact of grief, both seen and unseen, within our communities. Too often, grief and trauma in the Black community go unacknowledged or unsupported, leaving individuals and families to carry silent burdens.
Our division was created to raise awareness, provide education, and strengthen healing practices by:
✔️ Offering community training to empower families, leaders, and organizations.
✔️ Supporting research and scholarship that highlight the cultural reealities of grief and trauma.
✔️ Delivering clinical training for mental health professionals who serve the Black community.
We believe that when grief is met with understanding, compassion, and culturally responsive care, healing is possible, not just for individuals, but for generations.
Today, we invite counselors, community leaders, and all those who stand with us to continue this work of awareness and healing. Together, we can transform grief into growth and ensure no voice is silenced in sorrow. To learn more about NABC and the Grief and Trauma Division, please join us on our website NABCounselors.org
