Robbie Winkles, 88, of De Leon, Texas peacefully passed away April 26, 2026. She was born July 31, 1937, in Downing, Texas to Henry Scott and Dovie Colcleasure Scott. Robbie married Bobby G. Winkles in 1955.

Robbie’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Until the end of her life, she would ask about each of them. Robbie wanted to be reassured they were all doing fine. One of her favorite things was to remind us that we would never stop worrying about our children and grandchildren “no matter how old they are”. She, along with Bobby Sr., kept the grandchildren often and the great grands as long as she was physically able. Most of her early life was spent as a homemaker. Bobby and Robbie were able to experience traveling after his retirement from the United States Postal Service. They loved to travel to Florida for the winters and stay as long as they could. She was a faithful caregiver to Bobby, along with Bobby Jr. and Roger’s help, until the end of his life. After Bobby’s passing, she moved to the housing unit apartments where she lived a full and independent life and made many dear friends.

Robbie is survived by her sons, Bobby G. Winkles, Jr., and Roger Winkles and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Brittany Rogers and husband, Clayton, Taner Winkles and wife, Katie, Mitch Winkles and wife, Kailey Sones, Chelsea Luna and husband, Luis, and Shaina Stone and husband, Miles; great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Rogers, Havana Rogers, Heston Rogers, Clara Winkles, Eiley Winkles, Malcolm Winkles, Major Luna, Abraham Luna, Arabella Luna, Gentry Stone, and MJ Stone; sister, Peggy Lawson; brother, Benny Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby G. Winkles, Sr.; daughter, Donna Kaye Winkles; parents, Henry and Dovie Colcleasure Scott; and brothers, Elward Scott, Billy Jack Scott, and Jimmy Scott.

In respect of her final wishes, Robbie will be laid to rest in Downing Cemetery beside Bobby and Donna in a private family committal.

The Winkles family would like to express their sincere and very heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at De Leon Nursing and Rehab. Also, the CCS Hospice for guidance during the last weeks of Robbie’s life. Robbie is a Christian and we know she entered the gates of Heaven with a healed body greeted by her Lord and Savior, and her loving family. Billye Faye Kirklen Koonce, 92, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. She was born on July 5, 1933, to Loyd Thomas Kirklen and Ruby Goodson Kirklen.

Billye Faye grew up in Lingleville, Texas, where she developed strong Christian values, a determined work ethic, and a kind, gentle spirit. She built her life in Desdemona, grounded in her unwavering faith in Christ and surrounded by family and dear friends.

A testament to her strong work ethic was the many roles she held throughout her life. She enjoyed her time working at Smith’s Department Store and was known by many as the warm, smiling face who greeted them at Comanche County Medical Center—a role she faithfully served in until her retirement at the remarkable age of 80. Above all, her most cherished role was being a mother and the pillar of her family—a steady source of strength, faith, and unconditional love.

Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader, rarely missing a sporting event, always ready to travel to be with them, and never one to pass up a good shopping trip.

Billye Faye’s servant’s heart was evident in her deep love for her community. She was a devoted member of the Desdemona community, faithfully volunteering at her church and at the Desdemona Activity Center. She was also a member of the Study Club, ESA, and the Chamber of Commerce, and was honored as Woman of the Year.

She was a fighter—not by the world’s standards, but through her quiet perseverance, positivity, and unwavering ability to see the good in others. As a stroke and cancer survivor, she faced life with resilience and grace. To those who knew her best, there was no problem she couldn’t help fix with a cold Coke, a cookie, a slice of pie, or a piece of her famous pound cake. She loved beginning her mornings visiting and “solving the world’s problems” with her coffee crew at Cactus Corner—friendships she treasured deeply.

Billye Faye was preceded in death by her parents Loyd Thomas and Ruby Goodson Kirklen. Her sisters Bobbye Jean Roberson, Bettye Jo Terry, and Helen Louise Stone. She is survived by her sons, Scotty Koonce and wife Pat, and Brad Koonce and wife Lorie; her grandchildren, Derek Koonce and wife Debbie, Amy Wright, Ashley Ray and husband Eric, Austin Koonce and wife Morgan, and Aaron Koonce and wife Taylor; and her great-grandchildren, Kalee Schwartz and husband Garrett, Brenner Wright, Emery Ray, Elyn Ray, Emmett Ray, Beau Koonce, Kade Koonce, Kollyns Koonce, and Cole Koonce. She would have been a great great grandmother with baby boy Schwartz due in June.

Billye Faye’s life was a beautiful testament to unwavering faith, enduring love, and a heart devoted to others. She will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She was truly one of a kind—a beloved Mother and “Granny.”

The Koonce family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services celebrating Billye Faye’s life will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Desdemona Church of Christ with Minister Ken Frazier officiating. Graveside committal will follow in Desdemona Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Foster’s Home for Children (fostershome.org), in memory of Billye Faye. Condolences may be offered online at www.nowlinandersfh.com.

Mabel Ruth Miller, 81, of Desdemona, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026. She was born on December 28, 1944, in Richmond, California to Gaius Dawson and Ruth Mae Short.

Mabel grew up in Arkansas and Texas. Her parents were Cumberland Presbyterian ministers, and she was raised in various communities where they pastored churches. The family moved to Petersburg, Texas where she met Billy Miller. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1962. Mabel and Billy were married on December 23, 1962. They lived in Lubbock before moving to Channelview, where they raised their daughters. Mabel took care of the girls, cooking, sewing, attending their programs and activities. Later when the girls were married, Mabel and Billy moved to Crosby to be closer to their families and enjoy the grandkids. After retiring, they moved to Desdemona. Mabel and Billy spent 63 loving and devoted years together. Their love set an example for their children and grandchildren of what a strong, committed marriage looks like.

Mabel went to work at Touche Ross on August 12, 1988. Touche Ross merged with Deloitte in 1989, and Mabel continued to work for them until December 27, 2003. She loved working in downtown Houston and made many friends that lasted a lifetime.

Mabel loved being a Nana and her grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved and supported them in everything they did. She attended their events and if she could not be there she sent messages and prayers. Then great grandchildren came along, and she adored each one of them and was always ready to show a picture and tell you all about them. She was called Nana by more than her family. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and they knew that they held a special place in her heart. Mabel was kind and sweet and deeply loved by so many. She loved cooking for her family and friends, especially making desserts to bring comfort to others.

Mabel is survived by her husband, Billy Miller; children, Kayla Hall and husband, Doug, Kim Hinson and husband, James; grandchildren, Cooper Hall and wife, Ashley, Calli Harrington and husband, Trevor, Erica Brown and husband, Thomas, Jaycee Hinson; great grandchildren, Wyatt Hall and Jacks Hall, Dawson Harrington, Riley Chandler nd Reagan Brown; sister, Mary Hobbs; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Gaius and Ruth Short; parents-in-law, Haskell and Louise Miller; brother, Dewey Short; grandson, James Hinson; and many other loved ones.

Mabel loved the Lord and her strong Christian faith guided her life and touched everyone around her. We will cherish the love and care that she showed her family and friends and as Mabel would say, "One day at a time, sweet Jesus.”

The Miller family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Matt Morton and Matt Nowlin officiating. Graveside committal will follow in Desdemona Cemetery.
