🌟March Feature Family: Meet Charlie! 🌟

Charlie started hippotherapy when he was 3 years old. Riding weekly, he has been coming to EE for 8 years! Due to mobility concerns, Miss Lisa initially rode behind Charlie on the horse to assist sitting up. This occurred for about 5 years when one day Miss Lisa said “I think Charlie can ride alone.” Charlie’s mom was nervous 😳 but with the expertise of EE workers and volunteers, they were able to adjust Charlie to the point of independent riding. Charlie was VERY proud of himself after the first time he rode alone. I think he wanted to do what his friends were doing. Since then, he rides alone without anyone behind him 💪.

We asked Melissa, Charlie's mom, about the imact EE has had on their family and this is what she said!

"EE has provided Charlie with an activity HE can do. This is ALL HIS. He rides Froya alone. He has made friends on his own. He has his “OWN” horse. He lights up every week when we mention “horseback riding.” He has a special friend who rides at the same time, and he loves to see her 👩‍❤️‍👨. EE has provided our family hope and normalcy. Hippotherapy gives Charlie something that he can do by himself with other kids his age. I have made some dear friends here… other moms who get it. In a way it becomes dual therapy, hippotherapy for Charlie, mom therapy for Charlie’s mom" 💓.

No plow, no problem! (Well, maybe a little bit of a problem) 😱

EE would like to extend a big thank you to Bayland Buildings, Inc. for sending out Wisconsin Earthworks and their crew to help us out after our plow system broke down Saturday. Words can’t describe how much we appreciate you! ❄️🪏

And another shout out goes to John Schaefer for spending countless hours with the snowblower and on the tractor to make paths out to the paddocks! 🚜

It truly does take a village!

Like many of you, we are still trying to navigate this weather!

Without an active plow, we will not be able to hold programming tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th.

First up! Due to the weather (and clean up), there will be NO programming Monday, March 16th

Secondly! Speaking of clean up! The EE plow has decided to retire (talk about terrible timing). If anyone knows anyone with emergency plow services, please let us know!

Dear EE Community:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our four-legged team members, Cookie.

Anyone that knew her knew just how special she was. Cookie’s endless dedication to her work is an inspiration to us all.

Cookie, you will forever have a place in our hearts. May your new pastures be greener and greater.

We’d also like to extend a thank you to Great Lakes Veterinary Clinic for taking such good care of our girl and keeping her comfortable and pain free. We are lucky to have such a caring team by our side.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first ever Parent to Parent Chat Night!

We absolutely loved getting to know each and every one of you and listen to bits and peices of your journey. The group had a lot of good talking points about so many different topics, including what brings them and their family joy, navigating the triumphs and challenges of living with a special needs child, balancing home life and relationships, where they find community support, and even how to prepare for school, IEP, transitions, etc. 📣💪🏼🚌
