Every service at Camelot Cremation supports the rescue animals at Whistlers Run & Rescue. Truffles would like to say THANK YOU to the Camelot family who supported the purchase of her new fly mask. The flies have been horrible, and horses don't have a way to shoo them away from their face and eyes. A fly mask makes a world of difference in a horse's day, just as our Camelot families make a world of difference for every animal at the rescue farm. THANK YOU!

It’s Second Chance Sunday!

Dorothy & Blanche, two timid Shetland girls, rescued with the help of a local sheriff’s office, tasting what is surely their first bites of a sweet, summer peach 🍑

Stan with his best friend, Winslow. When Stan arrived he attacked every human and animal who came near. Today he softly moves to the side when hay is passed out to make sure his best friend has space to munch beside him.

Ebeneezer, Ophelia & Ursula. Two of these mud bathing beauties were meant for a prosciutto plate. Today they choose between fresh mango or blueberries, one of their kiddie pools or their mud wallow.

Lincoln. Left alone, rain rot from inadequate shelter and extremely stunted. He used to CHARGE through gates, so terrified of being left without a companion. Today he moseys. He lollygags. He’ll get there eventually. Because Lincoln lives here, but his fear does not.

Did you know, recent research suggests:

“Animal owners who experience the death of a beloved family pet or companion animal may experience feelings of grief and loss that are synonymous with the death of a human.”

This sweet pup is my Rufus. This photo is a few days before his death, at the Camelot Cremation offices with mama, even till the end felt his number one job was to give love to the humans. It took a lot for him to get up, but those eyes say “I love you.”

It’s been about two months now, I think of him every day, of course, as I knew I would. I’ve been taken by surprise, however, to find myself a bit resentful of my clean floors and hairless bedsheets.

We never know the little things that will turn into reminders. Bittersweet.

Each of us at Camelot cremation knows this pain, each of us is here for you.

And Rufus would have been, too.
