De Queen Public Schools has announced that Drew D***s has been named the new head football coach of the De Queen Leopards.
The De Queen School Board approved the move during its regular meeting Monday, Jan. 12, as part of several leadership transitions following the upcoming retirement of Transportation Director Todd Pinkerton at the end of the school year.
As part of the changes, Richard Bell will become transportation director while continuing to serve as athletic director. With Bell stepping away from the head football coaching role, Drew D***s was selected to lead the Leopard football program and will also serve as assistant athletic director.
D***s is a De Queen High School graduate and lifelong Leopard who played for the program from 2014–2016. He has spent the past three seasons coaching at De Queen Public Schools, most recently as head junior high football coach. His teams posted a 15–12 overall record, including a 14–5 mark over the past two seasons, and captured the 5A South Conference championship, the program’s first since 2014.
In addition to football, D***s has served as head junior high boys basketball coach and head senior high boys and girls track coach. School officials say his emphasis on discipline, pride, player development and building on athletes’ strengths made him a strong choice to lead the program.
D***s will step into the varsity role coaching many of the same players he has worked with at the junior high level, continuing to build on the foundation already in place.
De Queen Public Schools says it looks forward to continued growth and success for Leopard football under D***s’ leadership. 🐆💛🖤
