🌎💜 World Prematurity Day • From Midwife Christina 💜🌎
Today we honor the tiniest fighters—our precious preemies—and the incredible strength of the families who walk this journey with them. World Prematurity Day is a reminder of both the fragility and the unbelievable resilience of these little ones.
Here are a few important facts about prematurity and how we can support families walking this path:
✨ Fast Facts About Prematurity

• Preemies are classified as:
• Late preterm: 34–36 weeks
• Moderate preterm: 32–34 weeks
• Very preterm: 28–32 weeks
• Extremely preterm: under 28 weeks
• Preterm babies often face challenges with breathing, feeding, body temperature, and infections—but with specialized care, they can thrive

💜 On a Personal Note…
World Prematurity Day holds deep meaning for me as a mother and as a midwife. My own tiny miracle, Samuel James, was born at 27 weeks, weighing just 1 lb 9 oz. A true micro-preemie and one of the strongest fighters I’ve ever known. His journey shaped my heart, my calling, and the way I care for every family I serve.
Today, I honor Samuel and every preemie who has shown us what true courage looks like. 💜🕊️
