National Infertility Awareness Week | April 19–25

Infertility doesn’t discriminate. It touches women and men of all backgrounds, ages, and stories. If you’re walking this journey, you are not alone—and your story matters.

As a midwife, I believe in supporting the body holistically. While every situation is unique, here are a few natural ways to support fertility:

• Nourish your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods (healthy fats, quality protein, and plenty of fruits and vegetables)
• Support hormone balance with adequate sleep and stress reduction
• Track your cycle to better understand ovulation and timing
• Consider herbal support such as vitex, red raspberry leaf, or maca (always consult with a provider)
• Maintain a healthy weight and incorporate gentle, consistent movement
• Reduce exposure to toxins in food, skincare, and environment

Fertility is not just physical—it’s emotional and spiritual too. Give yourself grace in the waiting, and don’t be afraid to seek support.

Holding space for every story this week and always.

There’s something sacred about waiting… and this sweet mama did just that with such patience and trust. 💛

Going past your “due date” can feel heavy—every message, every question, every “is baby here yet?” can add to the anticipation. But this beautiful boy chose his own perfect day, and oh, was it worth the wait.

When he was ready, everything unfolded so peacefully. Surrounded by love, with their wedding playlist filling the room, this mama stepped fully into her strength and intuition. As he made his entrance into the world, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” played in the background—such a joyful, fitting moment that none of us will forget. 🎶

Dad was an incredible, steady support the entire time, and mom was so in tune with her body and her wishes. She knew exactly what she wanted, voiced it with confidence, and achieved her goal of a beautiful home water birth.

It’s always such a pleasure to work alongside Jaimee with Four States Doulas—I think we make a wonderful team to support such a special day. 🤍

It was truly an honor to witness and support this journey. Welcome to the world, sweet boy—you were worth every moment of the wait. 💙
With love,
Midwife Christina

🍑 What a beautiful day to welcome new life 🍑

On National Peach Cobbler Day, this incredible mama welcomed her 8th baby with such strength, peace, and grace—arriving perfectly on her due date, right on time. In a truly special moment, she achieved her very first waterbirth—surrounded by calm, love, and the sound of worship filling the room.

“In every little thing, in every little moment
How can you not feel loved?
How can you not? How can you not?
‘Cause He’s in the middle of
Every little thing and every little moment
How can you not see God?
How can you not? How can you not?”

And there He was—so present in every breath, every wave, every moment.

Welcome to the world, sweet baby girl 💕
6 lbs 12 oz of pure blessing

What an honor to witness such a sacred, perfectly timed, God-filled birth ✨

The first act of civil disobedience recorded in the Bible was committed by midwives.

Let me tell you their story.

In Exodus 1, we meet Shiphrah and Puah, two Hebrew midwives living under Egyptian oppression. Pharaoh, afraid of the growing Hebrew population, gave them a direct order: kill every Hebrew baby boy at birth.

These midwives said no.

They defied the most powerful man in Egypt. They risked their own lives to protect the babies they were called to serve. They looked Pharaoh in the face and lied to him, telling him the Hebrew women were too strong, too vigorous, that the babies were born before the midwives could even arrive.

And because of their courage, an entire generation of Hebrew boys lived. Including Moses, who would eventually lead his people to freedom.

The Bible says: “So God was kind to the midwives… And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.” (Exodus 1:20-21)

God honored their courage. Their defiance. Their protection of life in the face of authoritarian power. Thousands of years later, midwives are still fighting. Not against genocide, thank God. But against systems and policies that try to control how, where, and with whom women can give birth. We fight for a woman’s right to choose homebirth when it’s safe for her, informed consent instead of coerced interventions, bodily autonomy in birth spaces, access to physiologic birth instead of routine intervention, and the freedom to birth without unnecessary interference. We stand between families and systems that don’t always have their best interests at heart.

Just like Shiphrah and Puah, midwives today protect families’ rights to make their own choices about their bodies and their births. We push back against policies that restrict birth options. We advocate for informed consent when providers pressure unnecessary interventions. We honor women’s autonomy even when it’s countercultural. We believe that families, not institutions, should be the decision-makers in birth. This is sacred work. Not just catching babies. But protecting the fundamental right of families to choose how they bring their children into the world.

Shiphrah and Puah set the standard thousands of years ago: midwives serve families, not systems. We protect life and honor autonomy, even when authorities tell us otherwise. And just like God honored those ancient midwives for their courage, we trust that standing for families’ rights is exactly where we’re called to be.

“The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live.” - Exodus 1:17

Midwifery is built on relationships — because trust improves outcomes.

When care is rooted in connection, families feel seen, heard, and supported. That trust allows for open communication, informed decision-making, and care that is responsive to each individual’s needs.

Midwives take the time to build these relationships — through conversation, education, and presence across the entire childbearing journey.

Because when trust is present, care becomes more effective, more respectful, and more impactful.

April is C-section Awareness Month, and about 1 in 3 women in the United States will give birth by cesarean.

I am a C-section mom, and it makes me no less of a mother. My cesarean at 27 weeks saved both my life and my son’s life. He had stopped growing and was at serious risk, and that surgery gave us the chance we needed. At one time, a C-section was my biggest fear. But when I was faced with that reality, I felt a deep sense of calm and peace, knowing I was making the right decision for both of us.

Every birth story matters. Whether your baby arrived vaginally or by cesarean, planned or unexpected, your strength as a mother is not defined by how your baby was born. We have all done something incredible. We brought life into this world.

Take time to honor your story, embrace your journey into motherhood, and be proud of the road you have walked and the one still ahead.
