Meet Kenzie- Our SLPA and Peds Queen. Kenzie has been with SCMC for a little over a year and has quickly become a staple in our pediatric program. She works exclusively with kids, bringing structure and consistency to every session while keeping therapy fun and engaging. From tailoring activities to each child’s needs to advocating for their progress, Kenzie ensures every patient has the support they need to reach their goals. Our pediatrics program wouldn’t be what it is without Kenzie!

Two of our therapists, Kenzie & Loren, had the pleasure of reading to a second grade class at Horatio Elementary School this week. We’re so thankful for opportunities to engage outside the clinic in meaningful ways. We love being part of a community that lets us share moments like these 📚 🏫 ❤️

Spent the week at a desk, on your phone, or driving? Your posture will thank you for this one! 🙌🏻

This simple doorway stretch is great for opening up the chest and shoulders and relieving some upper body tension! 👇🏼

1️⃣- Stand in the doorway with hands/forearms on the doorframe.
2️⃣- Step one foot out and gently lean forward until you feel a stretch across your chest and shoulders.
3️⃣- Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat as needed.

A small stretch can make a big difference in how your body feels! ✨

Meet Halle- our Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). Halle joined our team a short time ago and jumped right into her role with compassion. She works with both adult and pediatric patients to help them overcome a wide range of communication, swallowing challenges, and more. She is kind, dependable, and brings a calm and supportive presence to every patient she works with. Halle has been a great addition, and we are grateful for the care and dedication she brings to our patients and department.

What you see: A couple therapists and kids playing with sidewalk chalk 👀

What we see: following directions, requesting, turn-taking, language use, early writing skills practice, & so much more! 🧠 💫

Play-based therapy is full of opportunities to target important goals, even when it just looks like playtime!

Give us all the sunshine, cute kids & outside activities ☀️ 💙

Meet Megan- our OT who has been a part of our team for over a year now. She performs all of our Occupational Therapy Evaluations and collaborates closely with our COTAs, Cristal and Loren to provide a patient centered approach to meeting their goals. She brings a calm, reliable presence to our team and is a compassionate listener who helps patients feel heard, valued, and supported throughout their therapy journey. We are so thankful for the compassion and encouragement that she brings to our patients and department.

Sitting a lot this week? Try this gentle reset:
1. Sit tall in a chair
2. Cross one ankle over the opposite knee (figure 4)
3. Gently lean forward until you feel a stretch in your hip + low back
4. Hold 20–30 seconds, breathe deeply
5. Switch sides

Bonus: After both sides, place feet flat and slowly fold forward to relax the lower back.

Gentle stretches like this can help decrease stiffness and improve mobility before the week begins. As always, stop if you feel pain and check with your provider if you have specific medical concerns.

Small habits = Big difference 🩵

You can always count on Cristal to step in wherever she’s needed. Her dedication to her patients and her willingness to grow make a meaningful difference in our department every day.

Meet Marisela- technically our Therapy Coordinator, but better known as our scheduling guru. She keeps us (and our schedules) in line day in and day out. From coordinating appointments to keeping the day flowing smoothly, she’s the calm behind the chaos and the friendly face that welcomes you to therapy. Marisela has been with SCMC for 3 years & we are thankful to have had her in rehab with us for a year now. We couldn’t do what we do without her organization, dedication, and heart for our patients.
