We had a great time celebrating Old Settlers Day with the brand new Avera Race car! Thank you to all of the people who helped create such a fun-filled weekend in De Smet and to all of our Avera volunteers for helping throw out goodies in the parade!

With measles cases confirmed in South Dakota and surrounding states, we encourage you to understand what this highly infectious disease can mean for you and your loved ones:
• People who are not vaccinated are at highest risk of contracting measles.
• If someone has a known exposure to measles, or is experiencing any of the symptoms, please call the clinic or the ER and inform us before coming in so we can work with you to avoid exposing other patients and visitors.
Many of the common questions we receive about measles are answered at the link. Knowledge is power. Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself about this growing concern.

They are a recipient of RestorixHealth’s Clinical Distinction and Excellence in Patient Satisfaction awards. Recipients of these awards met or exceeded national patient satisfaction benchmarks between July and December 2024.

RestorixHealth’s Clinical Distinction Award recognizes wound centers that have demonstrated exceptional success by meeting or exceeding clinical benchmarks; while the Excellence in Patient Satisfaction Award recognizes wound centers that have demonstrated superior performance in overall patient satisfaction.

“As we celebrate our second year of providing services during which we have had hundreds of patient visits, Wound Care at Avera De Smet Memorial Hospital is pleased to be recognized for our dedication not only to healing but also to patient satisfaction,” said Corbin Surat, BSN, RN, the clinical coordinator of the wound care program. “We are proud to be a recipient of an award that recognizes the work of our staff as both a health care team and patient champions.”

Today, we honor our employees, patients, families and neighbor for the sacrifices they made while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The unique bond shared by those who have served transcends time and circumstance. We are proud to be a small piece of Lt. Claire Peschong and Boiler Operator II Jim Shea’s story while they fight a new adversary. Thank you to all veterans in our community and their families who stand beside them.
