Whenever we have a problem we have 2 options for dealing with it. 1. Solve the problem, which is by far the most desirable of the options.
However, some problems are not solvable, or sometimes the solution is delayed. In those instances we can lean on the second option.
2. Soothe the emotional distress that is caused by having to experience difficult situations. This option can invite a wide variety of both positive and negative coping skills.
