Amazing news for our hospital!!! We will be in-network with Aetna effective August 1st. We have also accepted the rates offered by the second largest insurer in our area - Ambetter/ Sunshine Health. We anticipate a Sept 1 effective date.

We appreciate the patience of the community as we take the time necessary to negotiate rates that allow us to take extraordinary care of each patient visiting our hospital.

The only insurer who refused to negotiate with us was United Healthcare. United is known for denying valid claims, rejecting necessary care, and has become public enemy number one among health insurers. If you have a choice for selecting your healthcare plan, choose another plan. In the commercial market - Florida Blue, Aetna, Humana, and Ambetter - all offer better benefits and wider networks. If you are over 65, traditional Medicare with a supplement, Florida Blue Medicare advantage, or Humana Medicare Advantage all are ethical companies who will pay fair rates and offer you broad choices in where you select your healthcare provider. Unless you have no other choice - REJECT UNITED HEALTHCARE!!!

Thank you to State Representative Shane Abbott and Senator Jay Trumbull for securing $1.45M of the $1.8M needed to bring a mobile lung cancer screening unit to Walton County in the budget signed by Governor Desantis yesterday.

The US Preventative Services Task Force recommends lung cancer screening for all Americans age 50-80 who have a history of smoking. Because it is a screening test, it is covered by Medicare and most major health insurers with no copay or deductible.

This will be the first mobile Lung Cancer Screening Unit in the entire State of Florida!!!

A huge thank you to State Representative Shane Abbott Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida and Florida Dept of Health for partnering with us on this highly impactful community event!

Thousands of people die from opioid overdoses every year. Deaths that, according to officials, are 100% preventable. The North Walton Doctors Hospital in Defuniak Springs held an event for Revive Awareness Day, highlighting the importance of Naloxone for overdose victims.

United Medicare Advantage has declined to negotiate in good faith. We encourage all seniors who need care in North Walton county to switch to Humana Medicare Advantage for access to the areas only hospital. United does not care that you have no access to care, in fact that saves them money to have no access to care nearby. Medicare Advantage plan open enrollment starts soon. Do not choose any plans administered by United Healthcare.
