IMAGINE your parent or grandparent sitting alone and needing someone to reach out and make them feel a part of the community!

YOU COULD BE THAT PERSON! YOU CAN BE THAT PERSON TODAY!

We are looking for volunteers to hold a hand, share a story, send a card, listen, read, or sing. We are looking for someone who could run errands or perform light housekeeping. Someone to share flowers, bake some cookies, or garden. Someone who can, at times, relate to our veterans. Maybe someone to just come to sit, talk, and listen! Having another presence other than the four walls of their room is an amazing gift!

Gentiva Hospice is an organization that cares for people with a life-limiting illness and a life expectancy of 6 months or less who have chosen to focus on comfort care over treatment.

As a volunteer, you would provide our patients with the necessary companionship and comfort to give them a sense of worth and well-being!

Requirements include passing a background check, a drug test, a fingerprint exam, and a TB test (provided by the office). After these requirements are completed, you will receive training on how to be a volunteer and what is required to provide the best care possible while following company guidelines. Finally, the main requirement is a ready smile and a willing attitude!

If you have a multi-language background, this is extremely helpful. Some of our patients understand their native language better than English, and we also have opportunities for ASL interpreters! We want to do everything we can to make our patients feel all-inclusive and well-understood!

The Covid-19 virus has taken a toll on our precious patients, and it is now time to give them the comfort of companionship and fellowship. You could be the one person in the patient's life to bring a smile.

Karaoke anyone! Regency Hospice has a karaoke hour with our patients at Sodalis Senior Living in DeFuniak Springs, FL. We usually get our song and dance on at 2:00 pm. This happens every third Thursday of each month, and residents and patients absolutely love it!

DeFuniak Springs is on the road to having a Veteran's Lodge built right here in this quaint little community.
We just received word at our local Regency Hospice office that all of the permits have been approved, and construction has begun. They are in the land clearing phase and expect to have vertical construction begin within the next 90 days.
All of us are very excited about this wonderful program coming here!

LAKEFEST DEFUNIAK SPRINGS FLORIDA 2021

A great time was had by all at the annual LAKEFEST celebration in DeFuniak Springs this year. Last year was canceled due to Covid-19 restrictions. This year, the community came out in force to celebrate the beautiful day. Regency Hospice hosted a booth with a golf game and goodies that were handed out to everyone who participated. It was a concerted effort to try and develop good relations and volunteer opportunities. Regency Hospice and Plant Playground combined forces to participate in the parade at the end of the day. Thank you, Lee Bates, for providing the great float!
