We are grateful for the ongoing support from Right to Life Lifespan and the baby shower that they organize every spring to support pregnancy resource centers throughout metro Detroit including The Lennon Center. Thank you to the following Catholic churches for participating in the baby shower and showering us with their love: St. Anselm and St. Alphonsos/St. Clement parishes. We are so grateful for the donation of diapers, wipes, clothing, baby items, and for raising over $800! Thank you! St. Anselm Parish

Thank you to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville for holding a baby bottle drive that raised over $11,000 for The Lennon Center! This is amazing!

Wondering what a baby bottle drive is? A staff member from The Lennon Center will come to your church or organization and present information to them on the services that we provide and how your donations can directly help women and children in our community.

We leave TLC baby bottles that members are then able to take home and bring back filled with coins, cash, check or a digital donation.

Interested in supporting The Lennon Center with a baby bottle drive of your own? Give us a call at 313-277-5637.

Your support is what allows us to continue doing our good work!

The single biggest predictor of high academic achievement is reading to children.

Not flashcards, not workbooks, not fancy preschools, not blinking toys or computers, but mom and dad taking the time every day or night (or both!) to sit and read them wonderful books.

Books make great everyday presents! Consider giving your child a book to celebrate special life moments - no longer using a pacifier, potty training success, learning abc's, riding bike without training wheels, or whatever is an achievement opportunity for your child.

Showing your children the value of reading and books can't start too soon!

TLC parenting class clients: There will be no class or material assistance this Friday as our staff will be participating in advanced training.

Please join us next week on Tuesday, 3/24 at 11am as we resume our normal parenting class schedule.

Also so you are aware, this Thursday's class will be part two of a potty training class series. You are welcome to attend as space allows, but the class required pre-registration in order to receive potty training materials.

Look for our next potty training class in late summer.

We are quickly closing in on spring, but we are still in need of warmer clothing to give to our clients while the weather is still on the chilly side.

Can you please help us with a donation of gently used girls and boys long sleeved shirts and pants in toddler sizes 2T-5T?

Our racks are very empty and we have new clients who are pregnant who already have children that are joining us every week who are in need.

New items are also always welcomed and can be sent directly to The Lennon Center or dropped off during our business hours of 9-3p on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Thank you for allowing us to help families who attend our parenting classes to receive material support!

Kids who are read only one book a day will hear about 290,000 more words by age five than those who don't regularly read books with a parent or caregiver.

"Kids who hear more vocabulary words are going to be better prepared to see those words in print when they enter school" and "they are likely to pick up reading skills more quickly and easily," says Jessica Logan, professor of educational studies at Ohio State University.

What can you do? Read anything and everything to your children, starting with your brand new baby and continue reading into their middle school years.

Reading to your child not only builds their reading skills, it also builds and strengthens your connection with your child.
