Endovenous Ablation (VNUS ClosureFAST) is a minimally invasive ambulatory treatment performed at Elite Vein Centers. It is an alternative to surgical stripping of the saphenous vein. A small catheter is inserted, usually through a needle puncture in the skin, into the damaged vein. The radio frequency catheter is then inserted and goes up into the groin area. The doctor then numbs the vein with a local anesthesia and turns on the energy source. Blood no longer gathers and the varicose vein shrinks back to normal size. This procedure is performed in our office in about an hour. The patient is immediately ambulatory and ready to resume normal activities. Medically prescribed support hose and/or bandages may need to be worn for one week to assist in resolution of the vein. Bruising and/or soreness may occur after the procedure and should resolve in 1–2 weeks. Over-the-counter non-aspirin oral pain relieving medication may be taken as needed. There is very little pain during or after the treatment and you can see a big difference in just two weeks. Endovenous Ablation will normally treat the cause of most varicose veins but additional complimentary therapy may be necessary in some cases. About your surgeon:
