A message from our Outpatient Team â¨
This past weekend marked International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day, a day of healing and connection for those impacted by su***de. Established by the U.S. Congress in 1999, this observance takes place annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It offers an opportunity for survivors to come together, share their stories and find support during what can be an especially difficult time of year.
The holidays can be challenging for many and for those grieving the loss of a loved one to su***de, they can feel even heavier. Gathering as a community to remember, grieve and support one another is not only important, it can be profoundly healing.
The American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP) provides resources and support for survivors. Visit afsp.org to find local events, prevention programs and survivor support groups. In the Dearborn, MI area, grief support groups are available in Taylor, Grosse Pointe Farms, Bloomfield Hills, and Northville. More details can be found on the AFSP website.
If you have been impacted by su***de or know someone who has, please reach out often and offer support. This season can be difficult for many reasons, and loss is certainly one of them. Be kind to yourself and others as we navigate this time together.
At Metropolitan Behavioral Health, we offer two outpatient programs designed to support those who are struggling. Grief and loss are consistently addressed in our programming because they affect us all.
Call 313-633-2632 to learn more about our outpatient services. We care about you and your well-being. We are here to help.
