It amazes me how quickly people have forgotten about the tragedy of Karbala, we are still in mourning. 😓❤

Did Imam Ali show respect to Aisha after the battle of Jamal like some in the Shia world claim, or did he insult her like some others in the Shia world claim...

The Hijra calendar starts with the hijra (migration) of the Holy Prophet when he left Mecca for Medina. He arrived in Medina in Rabi al Awwal. Doesn't it make sense that the Hijri calendar starts with the Hijra? The truth is Muharram is what the calendar started with in the times of jahiliyyah. Tareekh al-Tabari, vol.2 pg. 110
The Islamic calendar is based on the occasion Prophet Muhammad (SAWWS) emigrated from Mecca to Medina. The prophetic emigration took place on the 3rd of Rabi al Awwal– thirteen years after the start of the holy prophetic mission. It is reported that after his arrival in Medina, the Prophet (SAWWS) ordered that the date system be based on the hijra (i.e Rabi al Awwal)

Tareekh al-Tabari, vol.2 pg. 112
Furthermore, al-Tabari also reports that when Omar wanted to order the date system, he asked, “From which day should we start the calendar?” Imam Ali (AS) who was the most knowledgeable about the Prophetic teachings said to him, “We should start the calendar from the day Allah’s Messenger (SAWWS) emigrated, and left the land of polytheism.”

Sahih Bukhari , Chapter of History: Title: From when they started counting the date, Hadith 3719:
Sahl ibn Sa’ad Saadi a companion of RasoolAllah (SAWWS) Imam Ali (AS) “ When the date started it did not start from the time when Prophet (SAWWS) received narration nor from the day he died, the date started from when they performed hijra (i.e 1st of Rabi al Awwal)

Explanation of Sahih Bukhari in Fath Al Baari by Ibn Hajar al Askalani- vol 7, pg. 207
It is like a difference of opinion in this he stated that Al Hakim wrote in an Eklel from Ibn Shahabl Zohri “that the Prophet (SAWWS) when he came to Medina he ordered the people to start the date/year from the 1st Rabi al Awwall”

Al Hakim reports from Sayyed ibn Musayyab that he said: “Umar gathered the people and asked them which date shall we start the year, Imam Ali (AS) said “From the date when the Prophet migrated and left the land of polytheism” and Umar did that. Later Uthman said “Start from first of Muharram because it is a sacred month and first of year according to the polytheists of Arabia and it is when people come back from Hajj”

Shia sources:

1 Ibn Shahr Ashub in his famous Al Manaqib vol 1, pg. 338 “Umar ibn Khattab gathered the people, he asked them from which date should we start of the calendar?” Imam Ali (as) said, "From the day the Prophet (SAWWS) did Hijrah (migrated from Mecca to Medina) and left the people of shirk. With this he suggested that do not make a bid’ah (innovation) and leave it as it was written down in the time of the Prophet (SAWWS), since it was when the Prophet (saww) set forth to Medina in the month of Rabi al Awwal, he commanded the start of the date (start of the calendar). But they put it back by a month and two months in advance to what was the (start of) year."

2 Al Sahib ibn Abbad in Unwanul Ma’arif wa Zikr al Khalaef pg. 11
The prophet entered Madina on Mondday, 1st of Rabil al Awwal and the date started from here, later it was turned to the 1st Muharram.

3 Allameh al Majlisi Bihar al-Anwar, vol.55 pg. 350-351
And the day that Prophet Muhammad (SAWWS) emigrated was on the 3rd of Rabi al Awwal. Of course, according to the teachings of Ahlul Bayt (AS), it was none other than archangel Gabriel (AS)– on instruction from the Almighty– who cited the beginning of the Islamic Hijri calendar as the day the Prophet emigrated from Mecca to Medina. This is given in a hadith from Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him.

Just two weeks away from 💔
