You’ll see influencers post all the time about what you’re eating and how your food choices are killing you, bad for you, or are going to cause major health problems. It’s to shock and scare you to listen to them, buy their products or services, but this is the oldest snake-oil trick in the book. The problem is that our relationship with food is so much more complex and nuanced.
🥗 A plate of veggies on a regular basis is a smart idea. 🏋🏼♂️ Being active on a regular basis is very important. I’m all for it, but so much of our health, quality of life, and longevity has to do with various social determinants of health, like how safe it is for us to walk in our neighborhoods. The access to adequate and reliable healthcare. Our financial and emotional stability, or what risky behaviors and habits we engage with.
