Mari I. Mars, MS, LPC, CPCS

Mari I. Mars, MS, LPC, CPCS I enjoy working with couples and individuals to achieve healing and change in your life! I specialize in trauma, intimacy, and s*xuality therapy.

Hello, I'm Mari! I'm so excited that you found my page! I am a trauma, intimacy, and s*xuality counselor. I specialize in trauma therapy (all kinds of trauma) and s*x therapy. I have a heart and a passion for helping those who face the unique challenges of intimacy, s*xuality, and s*xual orientation. I am committed to helping you through a variety of methods which are specific to your needs, your

situation, and your level of comfort. S*x therapy is talk therapy. While it can seem intimidating when we see the words "s*x therapy," the key to success is actually the open, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship wherein you can feel safe exploring things that you've never been able to talk to anyone else about. S*x therapy never involves any nudity, touching, or s*xual behavior of any sort. I will help you become empowered, achieve healing, reclaim intimacy, become more healthily aware of yourself, and improve the overall quality of your life. We will work together, at your pace, in a setting which is relaxing, non-judgmental, and private. As a counselor who specializes in s*x therapy, I enjoy working with individuals and couples experiencing intimacy issues or s*xual dysfunction, chronic s*xual pain, erectile dysfunction, infertility issues, s*xual orientation or gender issues, s*xual trauma and abuse survivors, and s*xual issues in disability. I also work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, or any kind of mental health issue. So what's the difference between s*x therapy and regular therapy or couples therapy? All therapy likely has a s*xual component to it. Somewhere along the way, any ethical counselor will discuss and explore issues around s*xuality. However, s*x therapy is more focused on these issues. S*xuality is intricately complex and interwoven with every part of our life (though we often don't realize it). So, more than likely, we will explore all areas of your life during therapy. S*xuality is complex and intricately interwoven with every part of our life. It is an often overlooked but integral part of our humanity. Think of s*x therapy like the difference between going to a general practitioner and an oncologist when one has cancer. You could probably go to a general practitioner, but you will get more specialized attention from a oncologist. S*x therapy is much the same- specialized and particular to your needs and circumstances. In addition to s*x therapy, I also specialize in Brainspotting, an empirically proven brain-based method of working through trauma, anxiety, depression, weight loss, addiction, chronic pain, and other conditions. I frequently use Brainspotting during sessions with clients, no matter what the reason they come to see me, as it is affective in rooting out unseen issues and reconnecting mind and body. Along the way, you may also meet Duke, my majestic therapy dog! Duke loves to come in and spend time working with clients who are challenged with trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. He is sensitive, stoic, gentle, loves to comfort and be a strong but sweet presence when he senses you need him the most. I look forward delicately, discreetly, and non-judgmentally assisting you in addressing challenges while respecting your boundaries. It's a privilege to witness and be part of your journey.
