1. It’s not screen time that’s ruining your children’s eyes, it’s the lack of outdoor viewing. You can limit screens all you want, but if your child is still spending most of their day indoors doing near tasks (reading, homework, crafts), you’re missing the protective piece of long distance viewing and natural light to help regulate healthy eye growth.
2. Headaches, eye rubbing, and “tired eyes” are red flags—not normal. If your child says their eyes hurt after school or reading, something is off. Kids shouldn’t feel visual fatigue doing basic tasks.
3. A lot of “attention problems” are actually vision problems. Kids who can’t focus, avoid reading, or act out in class often aren’t being difficult—they literally can’t see comfortably. And no, passing a basic school screening does not rule this out.
4. Waiting until a child complains is too late. Kids assume their vision is normal because they’ve never experienced anything else. Silence ≠ no problem.
