Eben a CNA here who is currently working to get into medical school had to complete an assignment and he wrote this about another CNA. It Is truely heart warming and makes me so proud of the team here. Shout out to Caso!

While working in long-term care, I’ve met many interesting people. The most compelling person I’ve met isn’t a resident, however, it is a 65-year-old CNA who has worked at our facility for nearly 40 years, reverently known as “Granny.” No matter how old a patient is (and we’ve had a few centenarians), they still call her “Granny” or “The Sarge,” a moniker denoting her apparently strict demeanor. Upon closer inspection, however, one would find that she is not merely strict, but deeply passionate about caring for the residents. I did not expect to be impacted so greatly by her example and how she treats every patient with sincere love and respect. She trained me on the job and taught me not just about patient care but what true dedication to healthcare looks like. I often ask what has motivated her to work at the nursing home for so long. She told me it’s the fulfillment she finds in caring for people, even when the work is thankless. Her perspective reframed how I viewed service in medicine. She taught me that it is not just a job, but a solemn duty that God entrusts to those who are specially suited to it. Working there has taught me how to deliver care with compassion and empathy. Although the role of a nurse’s aide is often underappreciated, I will carry the lessons it’s imparted to me for the rest of my life, in medicine and beyond.
