Times have changed. With artificial generative intelligence already replacing many jobs, I hope our school systems facilitate more trade school education curriculum beginning as early as junior high. There is already big demand for many skill sets like HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc.. What say you? …..

This was bound to happen. The Medicare re-enrollment period is about to begin. Seniors need to get out of the (dis)Advantage plans while there is time. A few highlights:

-Medicare Advantage provides health coverage to more than half of the nation's seniors, but a growing number of hospitals and health systems nationwide are pushing back and dropping the private plans altogether.
-Among the most commonly cited reasons are excessive prior authorization denial rates and slow payments from insurers. Some systems have noted that most MA carriers have faced allegations of billing fraud from the federal government and are being probed by lawmakers over their high denial rates.
-"It's become a game of delay, deny and not pay,''

Many of the problems existing in varying organizations today come from p**s poor leadership and management. While great leaders encourage their employees to reach their full potential and help their organizations surpass their goals, weak managers push their employees away to the point where many jump ship.

According to Greg Savage, mostly, people don’t change jobs solely for money. They rarely resign on a whim or in a fit of anger. They joined the company because they believed it was right for them and wanted it to be right. Something, at some point, made it wrong. And if you really take the time to dig into their real reasons for leaving — and you should — you will find that it’s not “the company” they blame. It’s not the location, or the team, or the database or the air-conditioning. It’s the leadership!

So, next time you get a resignation, resist the temptation to laugh it off as “another dumbo whodoesn’t get us.” It’s not the departing employee who doesn’t “get it.” It’s not the company they are leaving; it’s the leadership.

I have seen more than my share of this at hospitals. Toxic cultures lead to toxic conditions which leads to tragic "brain drain". Healthcare systems then spend more money to replace invaluable talent that walked away. Meanwhile many witnesses left behind just "quietly quit" while in their jobs since their suggestions are consistently ignored.

Highlight: "Ninety-three percent of physicians report that prior authorizations delay access to necessary care, according to a 2021 survey by the American Medical Association (AMA). Of the physicians surveyed, 82% said that problems related to prior authorization result in patients abandoning treatment, and more than a third of doctors reported that the process had led to a severe adverse event." It gets even worse with the extra rules/red tape in Medicare Advantage plans.

A suit claims a prolonged preauthorization led to a patient's amputations. Did the insurer commit medical malpractice?
