What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a pumpkin decorating contest? Prairie Cardiovascular in Springfield recently held a pumpkin decorating contest for colleagues. 🎃 They displayed their creative talents and raised funds for the Prairie Foundation at the same time by voting by monetary donations. Congratulations to the top three winners: Seirra Helmer, Pam Green and Barb Lamkey.

Dr. Michael Barkett recently joined Prairie Cardiovascular in Springfield. A cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology, Dr. Barkett’s focus covers all disciplines of cardiovascular medicine from imaging to intervention. He enjoys working with his patients, truly participating in offering a cure which translates into lifestyle improvement. “Professionalism is treating my patients beyond a medical record number or a medical chart on a computer screen. Touching lives in a positive fashion is my ultimate goal.”

Dr. Ali Khan recently joined Prairie Cardiovascular in Carbondale. A cardiologist with a conservative approach, he believes in preventative actions, preferring medical therapy and lifestyle changes before reviewing surgical options. “Putting patients at ease by helping them understand their disease and treatment options is very rewarding.”

Personally, Dr. Khan enjoys staying active. “My dog owns me completely and hiking with her in Southern Illinois is a complete joy.” He also loves baking, growing vegetables, raising chickens and landscape photography.
