We are so excited to introduce you to the second of our newest teachers, Daryn Jackson! Please join us and giving her a very warm welcome. 💞
Daryn will be teaching:
Sunday 6pm Rest & Restore
Thursday 10:30am Flow & Let Go
A Nashville native and brand new Atlanta resident, Daryn’s path to teaching yoga winds through life as a theater artist, community organizer, facilitator, and injury-prone adventure lover. She began practicing as a high school student and dove into vinyasa in earnest in college. After a decade of steady practice, she earned her 200 hour certification under Johnna Smith through Grow Yoga School in Nashville in 2012. A hip injury that year, which required surgery to repair, prompted her surgeon to say, “Your hips were not designed for yoga, you should try swimming.” She decided to open a yoga studio, instead.
It was there, at Unity Yoga Room in Mount Juliet, TN, that Daryn learned how a yoga studio can become a sacred home for connection and growth; where you can bring your most honest self, drop into your practice, and find your way back home in a room full of others doing the same. During those transformative years, she went on to pursue training and certifications in trauma-informed yoga nidra and meditation, adaptive yoga for seniors and injuries, yoga philosophy and neuroscience, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and studied under such notable teachers as Michael Johnson, Bryan Kest, and Gillian St. Clair.
As a yoga instructor with a parallel life as a writer, theater artist, and comedian, Daryn brings a sense of playfulness and curiosity to her classes. You can expect a steady, safe practice with creative sequencing, carefully curated playlists, time to sit and meditate, and likely a poem or two in her classes. She borrows this mantra from activist and movement strategist, adrienne maree brown: “Trust the small. The small is all. Move at the speed of trust.”
