Here’s something most people aren’t told:

✨ You have the right to decline any procedure. Any. Of. Them. ✨

Informed consent isn’t a checkbox.
It’s not a rushed signature on a form handed to you mid-contraction.

Real informed consent means:
• You understand the recommendation
• You know the risks of accepting it
• You know the risks of declining it
• You are free to choose — without pressure or coercion

If your provider is offended that you asked questions… that’s information.

“If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.”

Find a provider who actually wants you informed. 💛

✨ She came in with a list of questions she’d been told were “too much.”

At previous appointments she had been dismissed — talked over, handed a pamphlet, reassured without actually being heard. By the time she found Sunshine Birth Company, she had almost started to believe her instincts were wrong.

Let me tell you what continuity of care actually costs a midwife… and I mean that in the best possible way. 🤍

My social life is planned in pencil. ✏️
Every commitment I make comes with a silent disclaimer: I will be there… unless a baby is coming.

Because when labor starts, nothing else matters. 👶
That is not a sacrifice. That is the job I chose and the calling I love.

I have also developed what my family generously calls a superpower. 🦸‍♀️
I can fall asleep anywhere, wake up at 2am to a ringing phone 📞, assess a laboring mother clearly and completely, decide she has a few more hours… and be back asleep before my head hits the pillow again.

This is what it looks like when a provider is truly committed to you.

Not a shift.
Not a rotation.
One midwife.
Your midwife. Every time.

That is what the evidence supports. 📚
