What does that mean?

It means we keep you nourished, moving, and using gravity and position changes to support labor naturally.

For comfort, we offer the shower, birth tub, movement, and calm reassurance instead of medication.

We delay cord clamping until it stops pulsating—unless there’s a medical need—and always with your consent.

We honor the golden hour with immediate, uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact.

Newborn medications are your choice—we offer information, not pressure.

We allow the placenta to release on its own, waiting patiently if needed.

And we encourage you to learn about birth, so you can make informed, confident choices.

Any other interventions you’re curious about?

What does it really mean to trust your body during labor—moment by moment?
It means leaning into the intensity, even when it feels overwhelming.
It means honoring the pressure, the power, the deep force of your baby moving down.

Your body knows what it’s doing.
It knows the strength it takes to bring life into the world.

Let your body lead. Let your mind follow. 💪✨

I need friends, family, and clients to not just read, but please help me and take action! What’s happening is a targeted attack—a modern-day witch hunt—and a dangerous step toward dismantling the profession of Certified Professional Midwifery. It’s imperative that you understand that midwifery in Texas is at stake, if not for you, for me and for my daughters and your daughters and granddaughters.

URGENT ACTION REQUESTED BY The Association of Texas Midwives
House Bill 4553 has officially been set for a hearing in the House Public Health Committee on April 28 at 8:00 A.M. in Room E2.030 at the Capitol.
House Bill 4553 threatens the autonomy of our profession under the guise of data collection. While framed as a neutral reporting bill, HB 4553 lays the groundwork for invasive oversight, misrepresentation of outcomes, and the further medicalization of midwifery care without the context or nuance necessary to accurately represent our clients or our work.
We need every midwife, student, client, and supporter to contact the public health committee and urge them to oppose HB 4553
What You Can Do Today:
1. Call the Public Health Committee – urge them to oppose HB 4553.
Phone: 512-463-0802. Contact Chairman VanDeaver directly – tell him to withdraw his support for this bill.

Subject: Oppose HB 4553 – Protect Midwifery from over regulation and medicalization. Protect Family Choice
Dear [Chairman VanDeaver / Public Health Committee Member],
I am a [licensed midwife/client/family member/supporter] writing to strongly oppose House Bill 4553, scheduled for hearing on Monday, April 28. This bill, though presented as a neutral data reporting proposal, contains harmful and confusing language that would result in over regulation, redundant statistics collection, the medicalization of and the erosion of midwifery care in Texas.
Texas midwives are already held to high standards of safety and accountability. This bill duplicates existing reporting, imposes burdensome new rules, threatens privacy, and undermines informed choice in birth.
I respectfully urge you to oppose HB 4553 and support true solutions that protect safe birthing options across our state.
Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]

We must act now. Please make your call today, and help us mobilize clients and supporters in your community.
Please share this with your clients, supporters, and colleagues. We must move swiftly and with solidarity.
Midwives are not the problem—we are part of the solution. Let’s ensure that our voices, and the voices of the families we serve, are heard loud and clear at the Capitol.
Thank you for standing for midwifery, for birthing families, and for the preservation of midwifery care in Texas.
In solidarity,
Association of Texas Midwives

We’re passionate about supporting VBACs and, with a high success rate, we’d love to see more women planning for them! Currently, only about 13% of people who’ve had a cesarean go on to have a vaginal birth. While the decision can be complex, vaginal birth typically involves fewer risks. Speak with your care provider to see if it's the right option for you—or schedule a tour and consultation with one of our midwives to explore your VBAC options. Imagine you're full term with your first baby and you start noticing your belly tightening every 10 minutes, and then the contractions get stronger and closer together. Could this be early labor? What should you do next? Here’s a checklist to help you stay calm and prepared!

Food & Hydration: You never know how long labor will last, so it’s important to keep your body fueled and hydrated. Your uterus is a powerful muscle doing a lot of hard work, so give it the energy it needs to do its job!

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout early labor to stay energized and prevent dehydration. Dehydration can make contractions feel stronger than they need to be.

P*e Regularly: A full bladder can get in the way of your uterus, so be sure to empty it frequently. A small, comfortable bladder gives your baby more room to move down and out.

Move & Change Positions: Walking, climbing stairs, or just changing positions can help encourage your baby to move down through your pelvis. Experiment with different movements and rest positions to see what feels most comfortable.

Experienced moms—anything you’d add to this list? What helped you in early labor?

This could serve as a mantra, a source of comfort, and a gentle reminder when you need it: while birth can feel overwhelming and is undoubtedly a miraculous event, it is also a deeply natural process that happens hundreds of thousands of times every day. Birth is not a rare or exclusive experience—it's a fundamental part of life, shared by women everywhere. It doesn’t require perfection or special skills; it simply belongs to all women, in all their strength and diversity.
