“Under the ballot measure, passed Tuesday alongside midterm congressional races, a section of the state Constitution allowing slavery “as punishment for a person who has been duly convicted of crime” has been removed, according to the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office.

Now the relevant section – passed with 79.54% of the vote – says "Slavery and involuntary servitude are forever prohibited. Nothing in this section shall prohibit an inmate from working when the inmate has been duly convicted of a crime."

“Where has the ‘George Floyd racial justice money’ gone? Most companies that made splashy announcements in June 2020 pledged to invest and distribute those funds over 3-5 years. It’s now 27 months later. What are their plans for the billions that remain unspent and uncommitted?”

According to a McKinsey report released in December 2020 (and updated on the one-year anniversary of Floyd’s murder), more than 1,100 organizations committed a total of $200 billion to racial justice initiatives between June 2020 and May 2021.

Your boss may have access to your chats, messages and emails at the workplace. But there are ways to protect yourself.

"Willa and Charles bought the land for $1,225 in 1912 and built a resort called Bruce's Beach, according to the Los Angeles Times.

After they endured years of racist threats and harassment from their white neighbors and the Ku Klux Klan, city officials condemned the neighborhood in 1924, seizing dozens of properties through eminent domain. The city claimed that they took action out of an urgent need for a park, but the land sat vacant for several more decades."
