📢 The International Dyslexia Association has released an updated definition of dyslexia to reflect the latest research and understanding.

🔎 Dyslexia is a specific learning disability characterized by difficulties in word reading—affecting accuracy, speed, or both—and/or spelling. These difficulties occur despite effective instruction and can look different depending on the written language system.

Dyslexia is influenced by both biological and environmental factors. While phonological or morphological challenges are common, they’re not always present. Secondary effects may include difficulties with language development, academic progress, psychological well-being, and even vocational opportunities.

💡 Early identification and evidence-based instruction make a powerful difference—especially when language and literacy support begin in the early years of education.
