A new year is a fresh start, and it’s a great time to set goals that build confidence, reduce stress, and celebrate strengths. Here are a few realistic, empowering resolutions for 2025:

📚 For Students:

🌟 Try one new reading strategy: whether it’s audiobooks, colored overlays, or chunking text.

✍️ Write a little every week: a journal, a story, even a list. Growth comes from practice, not perfection.

💬 Ask for help when you need it: advocating for yourself is a superpower.

💛 Be kind to yourself: progress looks different for everyone, and that’s okay.

👨‍👩‍👧 For Parents:

🤝 Celebrate effort over grades: hard work matters more than perfection.

🗣️ Keep communication open: talk with teachers, specialists, and most importantly, your child.

📅 Build routines that support learning: consistent study times and organized spaces reduce stress.

🌱 Highlight their strengths: creativity, problem-solving, big-picture thinking, resilience.

✨ This year, let’s focus on growth, confidence, and the reminder that every learner moves at their own pace, and every step forward counts.

Happy New Year from all of us! 💙📖

From “I can’t do this” to published author. ✨

Kendra Thomas grew up thinking she wasn’t “smart enough” because of dyslexia and ADD. Today she’s a principal, playwright, and writer working on her fourth book.

Her story reminds us: growth takes time, support matters, and struggle is not weakness. 💪💛

Fall is a perfect time to mix seasonal fun with activities that support reading, creativity, and confidence.

Here are a few ideas for children of all ages to enjoy this season:
🎃 Pumpkin Storytelling – Let kids decorate a pumpkin and give it a name, then help them create a short story about it.
🍎 Apple-Picking Word Hunt – At an orchard or even in your backyard, write simple words on paper apples. Have kids “pick” and read them aloud.
📚 Cozy Read-Alouds – Pick high-interest fall-themed books and enjoy them together as a family. (Audiobooks count!)
🌲 Nature Walk Journals – Collect leaves, acorns, or pinecones, then draw or write about them in a nature journal.

Halloween should be fun for every child! For kids with dyslexia, activities like pumpkin carving, costume creativity, or sensory-friendly games can be a great way to enjoy the season without stress.

✨ Tips for a dyslexia-friendly Halloween:
🧡 Focus on hands-on fun (pumpkins, crafts, costumes)
🧡 Try read-aloud Halloween stories or audiobooks
🧡 Keep written instructions simple and use visuals when possible
🧡 Celebrate creativity over “perfect” spelling in games or signs

Let’s make Halloween full of joy, confidence, and spooky fun for all kids! 🕸️🍬
