Hello EVERYONE!
This is my current functional medicine patient. I ordered an OAT (organic acid test) and GI MAP + Zonulin test and food sensitivity test for her. WOW. I'll start by saying that I absolutely love FM (functional medicine). Taking a look on the inside with specialized testing is truly AMAZING.
Some symptoms include GI distress, GERD, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, unable to release excess weight while eating on this plan and/or Paleo diet.
FM is all about finding the root cause/causes! We found them.
Her current working diagnosis includes:
Celiacs Disease
Hypoclorhydria
Yeast overgrowth
Bacteria overgrowths (3 specific strains)
Adrenal Dysfunction
Mitochondrial dysfunction
Leaky Gut
Oxidative Stress
Vitamin Deficiencies (not a shocker)
It is so great that she has answers!
She is starting with 3 FM protocols I created and customized to get her body healing as quickly as possible. It is a long game though. I typically work with people for 5-12months and ongoing for maintenance and prevention.
Almost all of these diagnoses will drop off as she heals and we re-test. With Celiacs, she will always have to be gluten free.
Additional testing may include:
Genetic DNA test
Glyphosphate test
Mycotoxin test
I am grateful for FM and to have the opportunity to give her the treatment plans so she can truly heal.

Below is an MRI of a patient with a disc herniation at L4-L5.
Does the patient need surgery, injections, or chiropractic?

Even with a large disc herniation- patient's should begin conservative care such as chiropractic or therapy before considering surgery or more advanced interventions.

It's been estimated that over 50% of the population walks around each day with disc issues...and thankfully very few require surgery!

The size of the herniation DOESN'T matter. Always examine the patient, not the picture!
