DeKalb County IL Animal Control

DeKalb County IL Animal Control AC staff enforce county ordinances and state laws pertaining to animal-related complaints. Stray dogs picked up will be taken to Malta Veterinary Clinic.

The goal of Animal Control (AC) is to prevent the spread of rabies through vaccinations and education and support a database of registered dogs and cats. AC staff are responsible for enforcing county ordinances and state laws pertaining to animal-related complaints. Investigations are done regarding nuisance complaints, allegations of animal cruelty or neglect, as well as reports of stray, roaming

or injured animals; or dangerous, vicious or biting animals. Rabies vaccinations and tags are available at veterinary clinics in DeKalb County. If your dog or cat was vaccinated out of county, rabies tags can be obtained at the Health Department. Dogs picked up in the south end of the county may be taken to Sandwich Veterinary Hospital. Call to inquire about the procedure and fees to claim your dog. Contact Us Monday – Friday from 8:00AM-4:30PM at 815-748-2427. For matters occurring after hours call your local police to contact Animal Control.
