🌟 Employee Spotlight: Katie Bakken, Restorative Nurse 🌟

Katie Bakken has been a nurse since 2011 and joined Aperion Care as our Restorative Nurse a few months ago. She loves what she does and has developed a special passion for working with the elderly population.

Katie finds great fulfillment in improving the lives of her residents while working alongside a supportive team, which she says is one of the best parts of her job (aww 🥰).

Outside of work, Katie enjoys gardening, canning, and spending time with her family and her cats, Stevie and Sol. While she doesn’t have children of her own, she sure does spoil her nieces and nephews! She also enjoys making natural body products like deodorant and tooth powder.

Thank you Katie for the care and dedication you bring to your role each day! 🧡💙

Some wishes are simple, but mean the world.

Our resident Jackie’s greatest wish—to share one more dinner with her brother, Michael—was beautifully fulfilled this week.

Surrounded by red, white and blue in honor of her father’s service, the room was lovingly decorated to reflect her deep pride and connection to family.

Jackie and Michael shared a delicious meal of burgers, fries and Cokes graciously donated by Portillo’s, followed by their famous chocolate cake. Michael’s humor shined as he joked about “policing” his neighborhood and reenacted his favorite wrestling moves, doing everything he could to make his sister smile. Jackie, in turn, shared memories of caring for him as a child, New Year’s crepes with orange marmalade, and time spent with their dad.

After he left, Jackie wrote him a card, leaving him with words to hold onto long after their time together.

Jackie was left with a sense of peace.

Heartfelt thanks to Jena and Darek from Opportunity House, Inc, Tracy from Compassus, our Activity Director, Christin, and Portillo's for their generosity and care in making this wish come true.

Misty is sweet and kind, and her approachable nature makes her someone our employees seek out for support. Whether she’s conducting interviews, facilitating hiring processes, or simply lending a listening ear, Misty is always there to assist and fosters a sense of trust and collaboration.
