Rio Grande Hospital is part of Valley Citizens' Foundation for Healthcare, Inc., a nonprofit. The tradition of hospital care at Del Norte started when St. St.

Rio Grande Hospital is part of Valley Citizens’ Foundation for Healthcare, Inc., a community non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide health care to the Western San Luis Valley. Joseph’s Hospital opened in 1907. Joseph’s closed its doors in 1993. In 1996, Rio Grande Hospital at Del Norte re-opened at the old St. Joseph Hospital Building. The Rio Grande Hospital moved to its present location on August 11, 2004. The originally ten-million-dollar facility has grown since its opening.

Mineral County Public Health and Creede RGH Clinic invite the community to our annual Creede Health Fair — a long-standing local tradition focused on helping our community stay healthy.
✔ Blood Pressure Screening
✔ Hearing Tests
✔ Blood Glucose (Diabetes Screening)
🔬Lab Testing Available:
Chemistry Panel with Lipids & TSH, PSA (Men), CBC, Hemoglobin A1C, Blood Type and Vitamin D.

This event began in the late 1980s after the Creede silver mine closed, when many residents had limited access to health insurance. The health fair became an important way for community members to receive affordable screenings and basic health information. ❤️

💪 We are grateful to have hosted an impactful and informative training at the RGH Wellness Center with Kara Napolitano from the - Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking (LCHT). This session on Human Trafficking in Rural Southern Colorado provided valuable insight into how trafficking affects our communities and how it may present in healthcare, behavioral health, and first responder settings. Attendees gained practical tools, a deeper understanding and clarity around common myths versus the realities of trafficking.

💡 Key facts everyone should know:
• Human trafficking is a global crisis generating over $150 billion annually
• The vast majority of victims are never identified
• Most victims are trafficked by someone they know and trust—not strangers
This training was a powerful reminder that human trafficking can happen anywhere, including in rural communities like ours. Awareness and education are critical steps in recognizing the signs and supporting those impacted.

What an incredible evening for Southern Colorado healthcare! 💙

Last Friday’s Excellence in Nursing Awards at the RGH Wellness Center was truly something special, filled with joy, laughter, community, and love. We had the honor of recognizing 26 outstanding nominees and celebrating 9 award-winning nurses who will go on to represent our region at the state level. 👩‍⚕️

A heartfelt thank you to Ellen Lane and Monica Hinds for planning such a beautiful and uplifting event for our Southern Colorado healthcare community. Your care and attention to detail created a night that will be remembered by many.

We are also deeply grateful to all the volunteers who helped with setup, decorating, and cleanup - this event was a true team effort from start to finish. 💪
