People-pleasing isn’t a personality trait—it’s a survival skill.

If you learned love was conditional, your brain may still believe that your worth depends on your performance.

Healing = realizing you can be loved *as you are*, not for how well you take care of others. ❤️

Think of it this way. When you experience uncomfortable situations, your body tries to keep you safe in the future by convincing you to be anxious.

It tells you to:
- Pay attention to the mood of that person!
- If you don’t plan everything, it won’t work out!
- You don’t know who is going to be at the park with your kids. You better keep them close!

You’re not dramatic. You’re not negative.

Healing anxiety means teaching your body what *safe* feels like again.

You’ve let your mind wander like an untrained puppy for too long.

It’s pulled in 1,000 different directions and you’ve come to believe this is normal.

At the core of anxiety, is a fear that something unwanted will happen.

Ex: Frustration from spouse or you’ll be embarrassed

What is the “unwanted thing” for you?

Most people treat their worry thoughts like a child asking “Why?!” for the 100th time. Has ignoring your child ever really made them stop? (If you said yes, then I have to learn your strategy 🤣)

Try these tips instead:

✨ Lean into anxiety - Yes, it seems totally backwards. Instead of turning away from the worry, lean into it. Doesn’t your child stop asking for you when you acknowledge them?

✨ Mindfulness - You’re not doing mindfulness wrong if your mind wanders. It’s normal! Instead, train your mind to stay focused for longer just as you would with an untrained puppy who wants to run away while on a walk.

✨ Rewire unhelpful beliefs - Your mind isn’t always on your side. Be intentional with what thoughts you choose to listen to.

Need more support quieting your mind?

➡️ Join me for a FREE workshop where you will:
✅ Learn how to calm your anxiety in less than 5 minutes
✅ Rewire unhelpful beliefs that fuel worry so you can be present
✅ Walk away with practical strategies you can implement right away!

🎉 PLUS! Empowering discussion, refreshments, community + relief.

You’ve read the books.
You practice gratitude.
You keep pushing forward.

But still, you feel stuck.
Disconnected and overwhelmed by the smallest things.
And then you wonder: “What’s wrong with me?”

Here's what I know:
There is nothing wrong with you.
You’re carrying patterns from trauma that trained your body and mind to live in survival mode.

➡️ Trauma doesn’t just leave memories—it rewires your sense of safety.
➡️ It teaches you to scan for danger, not joy.
➡️ It keeps you performing instead of experiencing.

That’s why it’s not enough to just think positively.
You have to feel safe enough to feel anything at all.

✨ Therapy helps you get there.
Not by pushing through, but by gently teaching your body, “It’s okay to feel. It’s okay to rest. It’s okay to be you.”

If this resonates, you're in the right place.

📥 DM me or visit the link in comments to learn how trauma therapy for women can help you finally feel like yourself again.

You don’t have to carry this alone. ❤️

If you or your child is affected by the Kettle Moraine School District decision to close Magee Elementary School? This is for you 👇

You may be thinking:
- "How is my child going to handle this transition?"
- "How could the school board do this?!?"
- "This is going to screw up our transportation plans."
- "Here's another thing I have to worry about."

❎ Your urge may be to fix your and your child's feelings with statements like "It will be fine! You don't need to worry!" Anxiety tries to protect you from uncertainty and discomfort and it fails. The more we push the feeling away, the louder the feeling gets.

✅ Instead, I want to offer you effective solutions so you can build resilience in yourself (and your children!) so you can manage life transitions with ease. ⬇

1) Acknowledge the discomfort.
It seems counterintuitive, however, naming and facing the feeling causes the feeling to pass quicker vs dismissing the feeling. You can say, "It feels hard to sit in uncertainty and I can let this feeling be here."

2) Offer curiosity.
Being curious and asking questions can move you and your child from judgement which increases distress. Avoid phrases like "This is terrible" and instead consider using statements like "I wonder how my body is reacting to this news" (then notice where in your body you feel the emotion).

3) Sit in the experience vs fixing.
We often want to find a quick solution to make the uncertain certain. If we manage to do this, it makes anxiety go away quickly. Yay!
The problem? We accidentally teach ourselves that anxiety is "bad" and we shouldn't be feeling it. Instead, acknowledge that a solution to our problem will come in time by saying "I can work this out when new information arises. Today I can only do X to make progress."

Change is hard and painful. I see this every day as a therapist and experience it personally. You're not alone.

You and your child will get through this. Managing emotional discomfort makes managing life pressures easier.

You got this! 💪 ♥

Fight or flight kicked in and I threw the container.

While I was cleaning my kid’s bubble holder, I noticed something brown inside the deep container.

I casually unscrewed the lid as I jammed to a song by my favorite cowgirl, Lainey Wilson . (Any fans, here?!)

You all....it was a dead mouse!

The unexpected sight caught me off guard and my body reacted.

Here’s how a unregulated nervous system may show up for you:
😱 Kids running and yelling for hours cause you to snap and yell back.
😱 Your colleague looks at your cleavage a little too long (again) and you freeze
😱 You get a call from your family that your loved one is in the hospital and you're in shock.
😱 Wanting to avoid a work meeting because last time you were criticized publicly.

My body needed several minutes to calm down.

I used the same strategies I teach clients, so I could cowgirl-up and pick up the dead rodent off my lawn.

What recent experience caused you to jump? 👇 🤣
