I never knew this about wrapping potatoes in aluminum foil to bake. Did you?

Wondering what a piping hot baked potato and bacteria have to do with each other? Potatoes wrapped in foil don't have much oxygen, creating an ideal environment for botulism. "Botulism is caused by a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum that is found naturally in the environment, particularly in the soil," says Kimberly Baker, PhD, RD, LD, a food systems and safety program team director at Clemson University.

The bacteria doesn't disappear with heat, instead, it will wait until the right conditions present itself. "When the bacteria does not have what it needs to live, it will encapsulate itself creating a spore until the conditions change to where it can grow again."

This is mindboggling. Coco Cola, a single-use plastic polluter, is trying to convince the public that putting drinks in recycled PET plastic bottles is good for the planet and the people on it. Don't believe the greenwashing!

It's not news... TWO years ago a study published on the toxicity of recycled PET plastic found that 150 toxic chemicals leached into the drinks inside the recycled plastic bottle, and 8 of those were at levels exceeding regulation. The toxicity of plastic actually increases with recycling. And if that's not enough, separate research has found breaking down plastics for recycling scatters microplastic pollution into the environment. COKE you are a (bad) JOKE.

Human safety rule #1. AVOID anything edible or drinkable packaged in recycled plastic. Rule #2. Avoid single-use plastics as best you can. The only way to fix the plastic problem is to stop making it and stop using it for non-essential uses.

Has anyone seen the massive PR campaign launched by the plastic industry while they try to brainwash the public into believing plastic is good? 🤦‍♀️
