Specialized ABA

Specialized ABA Specialized ABA provides applied behavioral analysis to individuals with autism. Hello and Welcome to Specialized ABA! It is all in how you present it, truly.

I am passionate about helping my clients through the field of Behavioral Analysis. My strengths – teaching reading and math – developed when I taught elementary as an interventionist and media specialist. Now, I can easily pinpoint areas to focus on when academics are a concern and have a knack for instilling a love of reading in children. I’ve been a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst for almost 4 years and worked in the field for the past five years, bringing my total years of experience working with children to 20. I’m proudly a founding board member of the Volusia chapter of the Florida Association of Behavior Analysis (VABA). Please contact me for meeting information, I would love for you to come! I’ve lived in DeLand my entire adult life. When I am not working with my learners and families, I love being with my family or watching DeLand Bulldogs football where I am actively involved in the DeLand Century Club. DeLand IS my community. I look forward to meeting you!

Read CASP's white paper "Evidence About ABA Treatment for Young Children with Autism: The Impact of Treatment Intensity on Outcomes." https://www.casproviders.org/evidence-intensive-early-aba

The publication—a companion to CASP's ABA Practice Guidelines—summarizes evidence about early, comprehensive, intensive ABA treatment. It also overviews generally accepted standards of care for young children receiving ABA as well as the processes for developing and updating standards.

We address a recent meta-analysis of treatment outcomes by Dr. Sigmund Eldevik and his colleagues. The paper also highlights the critical importance of treatment intensity to outcomes and provide benchmarks to use in evaluating ABA treatment outcomes delivered to young autistic children.

These same benchmarks can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of other treatment approaches for the same population.

Further, the paper evaluates recent studies in which authors claim that both high and low treatment intensities produce similar outcomes.

We provide context to the studies’ claims, raising concerns about their methodology, design, and understanding of early intensive intervention.

Finally, the paper provides resources to help parents and caregivers understand the variables that influence children’s outcomes in early, comprehensive, intensive ABA.

One of the many aspects I am proud of as the owner of Specialized ABA is our student analyst round table, which cultivates growth and dedication to our team and the field of applied behavior analysis. Our student analysts had the opportunity to prepare for the BCBA exam today and ask our experienced and committed BCBAs for further clarification on difficult questions. I am proud of this team!
