I encourage everyone to watch this documentary on the 6th anniversary of this incredible rescue. It is truly incredible the obstacles that are overcome and the outside the box thinking that was able to achieve a successful outcome. As firemen, there’s a lot of pushback on aggressive tactics these days. If you’re going to be aggressive, I hope you’re also smart and tactful in your decision making. Do not lose the “dare to be great” mentality! Stay aggressive, open minded, and always forward!

Congrats to our dude Aaron Hyde for always setting the standard!

Congratulations to Engineer Aaron Hyde for being awarded instructor of the year by Coral Springs Fire Academy.

Engineer Hyde is a 10 year employee of Boca Raton Fire Rescue with previous experience in Northern Florida as a firefighter. Engineer Hyde is a certified smoke diver, hazmat technician and a member of our special ops team. Engineer Hyde  has a passion and a wealth of knowledge to pass down to our future generation. Thank you for your service to our community Engineer Hyde! You deserve the praise! Congratulations

I have tried to find the right word(s)to caption everything this photo embodies, even “ Brotherhood” as defined above doesn’t seem to do it justice.
There is such an array of emotions stirred unlike any other moment in fire that Ive managed to capture. And Ive been blessed to see and experience this brotherhood (family) through both the lens of a fire wife and photographer.
For the ones that doubt….. I see you. I’ve seen politics and the negativity in some departments manage to suck the life from it.
I want you all to know, no matter what you may have heard, no matter If you have never experienced it, no matter that you may have lost your faith in it….
The brotherhood is real! Most moments go unseen, but never unoticed… in celebration, loss, heartbreak, a moment to listen, or a moment to encourage and lift a brother/sister up…. The brotherhood is alive!

If you’re on shift or have some down time throughout the day, take some time to read, learn, remember and educate yourself on these incidents involving FDNY on this day in 2005. One involves a basement fire and the other a high rise. The day is referred to as “Black Sunday”. At the time, it was the deadliest day for firefighters in FDNY since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
