"Dr. Rupy Aujla, a UK-based physician and podcast host, advocates for incorporating protein into breakfast to enhance weight loss and control hunger. He suggests that a protein-rich morning meal, in contrast to a carbohydrate-heavy breakfast like cereal, can lead to increased satiety, reduced calorie consumption throughout the day, and improved weight management. This advice was shared in a discussion with Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, emphasizing the importance of protein in mitigating the effects of an environment filled with highly palatable foods.

Wish us luck in the Spring of 2025.

Spring Planting is Complete!

Today, our team came together to prep the Plant to Plate Patient Garden for the new season! With fresh soil, sunshine, and a little teamwork, we’ve set the stage for (hopefully) a bountiful harvest of vegetables.

This garden is more than just plants—it’s part of Dr. Pulapaka’s commitment to Lifestyle Medicine, providing fresh, homegrown produce to our patients to support healthier eating habits. We can’t wait to watch it grow and share the benefits with them!

Stay tuned for updates as our garden comes to life!

Last night, Jenneffer and I enjoyed a wonderful and engaging dinner with Drs. David and Catherine Katz. As you may know, Dr. David Katz wrote the Foreword to our exciting new book "The Heart Healthy, Plant-Based Cookbook". Our book is at the leading edge of one of Healthiest Longevity Diets coupled with tantalizing flavors and healthy education.

Patients want and need healthy, affordable options for fresh vegetables and fruits.

Patients want and need healthy, affordable options for fresh vegetables and fruits.

Thankfully, there are simple ways to help your unhealthy patients who have said they often choose less healthy options because of cost. One is with a physician driven RX: Veggies & Fruits Proram. To this end, we are working with local vendors and be able to provide patients, that do not have enough money to purchase healthier food options, a prescription for free or discounted fresh produce/fruits.

Another way to help is by building a free community garden for patients right here at DeLand Foot and Leg Center or start your own - Plant to Plate Patient Garden. For more information, visit www.planttoplate.info in the coming days, as we create more links to community supported agriculture options, recipes, and nutritional information.

Our goal is to provide a resource that all patients have been missing in the Volusia health community.
