The office will be closed Monday, August 18 through Friday, August 22. We will return to the office on Monday, August 25.

Unfortunately, while the office is closed, we will be unable to fax or email any school-related forms. If you need a form you can call the office and leave a message, send a message by email, or send a message on your child’s patient portal and we will take care of it when we return to the office on the 25th. Please do not text or call Dr. Flint directly for any forms or school-related issues. However, you can contact him directly or send a portal message regarding any medical questions.

I want to extend my apologies to those who are desiring to be part of the practice and have left messages but have yet to get a call back. Since May we have had over 50 calls for new families and we have only been able to get to half of these. We are continuing to work through the list and I will be assisting in making these calls. Unfortunately, for anybody wanting to get their child in for an appointment prior to the start of school, the schedule has filled up beyond the cushion that I usually leave for same day sick appointments and newborns. As a result any new patient will not be able to get appointments until mid September. Thank you for your understanding and your continued patience.

NOTICE:
Appointments for school and sports physicals before the beginning of September are becoming scarce. Most open spots are for a single child with few options for multiple children. We need to keep some open slots in schedule each day to accommodate illnesses, acute needs, or newborns.

In order to ease the burden on Shannon, who is the only one answering phones, please utilize the Patient Portal to request an appointment for your children. This way we can better communicate options based on your appointment needs. These messages will be answered by either Shannon or Dr. Flint.

We have received a large number of calls over the past few weeks from families wanting to join the practice and we are doing our best to return these calls. The week off for vacation has added to our backlog but rest assured, you will get a call back. Thank you for your patience.

This has been a very busy week and we thank everyone for their patience. The schedule has filled completely for today so there are no appointments available. The office will also be closed tomorrow (Friday, May 2). For today, if you have any questions the best way to get some answers will be to use the patient portal. Otherwise I recommend using a prompt care if a child needs seen today. We will continue to do our best while we look for additional staff to fill the void. Thanks!

I have recently been made aware of new Aetna CVS health plans that do not have Delavan Pediatrics or myself as in-network. These are individual marketplace plans (non-employer plans) that appear to be restricted to certain hospital group-based providers. I am currently checking with Aetna to see if there is anyway to get Delavan Pediatrics in-network for the HMO or PPO plans.

This issue with Aetna does not currently involve most of the employer plans, though there are some that are contracted with only specific hospital groups (such as OSF). To verify my participation in your plan you will need to check with Aetna directly. I can still see out-of-network patients, however, this can result in potentially higher patient responsibility costs.

I will provide an update when I hear back from Aetna.

We are going to be short staffed for an unknown period of time. Our ability to answer the phones is going to be limited. If you do call and you get the voicemail, please leave a message (instead of hanging up and trying again) and we will call you back as soon as we are able. If you have a clinical question or need to request an appointment, the patient portal can be used for these, just be sure to send the message under the appropriate child's account. Construction will be starting any day now on IL-122 from the east end of town by Dollar General all through town and west to IL-29. There is also construction at the IL-122 interchange at I-155 causing delays due to the traffic light there. The construction on IL-122 is expected to last until September. Plan to leave earlier than usual for any appointment. Alternative routes to the office to avoid the construction involve Delavan Road, either from the north via Toboggan Ave or from the south via US-136. Delavan Road becomes Locust St in Delavan which brings you right to the office.
