The restored 1840s horse-drawn hearse in Spicer-Mullikin’s care is a reminder of how long hearses have been part of funeral traditions. Hearses are especially equipped to accommodate transferring and transporting the casket, but other vehicles can be used. For example, the casket of fallen firefighters is often carried on a fire truck. What matters most is creating a meaningful event for family and friends.
