The 47th Little Brown Jug Junior Golf Classic was played at Hidden Valley Golf Course on July 15 with 59 area youth ages 7-17 participating. The participants played opponents in their age group in the 9 hole event and enjoyed a time of lunch, door prizes and trophy awards. The number of participants required the event to be played in a morning and afternoon flight, with lunch and door prize awards scheduled between the two flights.
The City of Delaware and Hidden Valley Golf Course provided a golf course that was in great shape and a convenient gathering place to house the participants during lunch and the awards ceremonies.
The Kiwanis Club of Delaware County presented the event as part of their focus on supporting youth, while following their motto 'Improving the lives of children, one community at a time".
The results of the competition are as follows:
Girls age 7-8, 1st Madi Curtis: age 9-10, 1st Gracie Curtis, 2nd Marli Trembush, 3rd Kallie Akers: age 11-13, 1st Mallory Elliot, 2nd Evyn Trembush, 3rd Brennan Kessing; age 14-17, 1st Rayma Smith, 2nd Olivia Ross, 3rd Quinn Bordine.
Boys age 7-8, 1st Ko Imai, 2nd Reid Ehrler, 3rd Dean Metzger; age 9-10, 1st Kengo Imai, 2nd Liam Reichert, 3rd Luke Lautenbach; age 11-13, 1st Micaiah Lewis, 2nd Blake Gibson, 3rd Carter Lycans; age 14-17, 1st Owen Jester, 2nd Kaden Ottley, 3rd Henry Terry.
Medalist of the day was Owen Jester with a score of one over par 29.

Golden Reserve's "FOR THE KIDS" Senior Golf Scramble
Fundraiser to benefit the Kiwanis Club of Delaware County's youth and community programs including the Buckeye Valley Key Club and Builders Club, Conger Elementary 1st Grade Reading Initiative, People In Need (PIN), Boardman Arts Park, Common Ground Free Store, Big Brother Big Sister, Delaware City Youth Sports and Little Brown Jug Junior Golf Classic. The event will be held on May 17, 2023 (9:00 am shotgun start) at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Delaware, OH and is open to golfers age 60+. Cost is $200 per foursome and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, hole skill games, prizes and lunch. Registration for the event is at eventbrite.com or by using the QR code on the event brochure.

The 46th Little Brown Jug Junior Golf Classic was played at Hidden Valley Golf Course last Saturday July 23 after being delayed one week because of rain. The event included youth golfers ages 7 - 17 and was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Delaware County. The golf course was made available by the City of Delaware. The Delaware County Kiwanis Club sponsored a movie at the Strand today. There was a morning and afternoon showing and families were encouraged to bring school supplies donations as admission. The school supplies will be part of the Delaware County United Way Supplies for Scholars program

Registration is open for the 2022 Little Brown Jug Junior Golf Classic tournament scheduled for July 16, 2022 at the city of Delaware’s Hidden Valley Golf Course. This year’s tournament will be the 47th year for the event and will once again be organized and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Delaware County.

The golf classic is open to all youth ages 7-17. The tournament entry fee for participants will remain at $5.00 and will include greens fees for nine holes of golf, lunch, door prizes, a participation medal and trophies for age division winners. The expectation is to host a full field for the event. The tournament will be structured in a morning and afternoon flight and the

BUCKEYE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL KEY CLUB PRESENTS DONATION TO FAMILY PROMISE

The Buckeye Valley High School Key Club presented a check to Family Promise of Delaware County in the amount of $727.40. The donation was the results of their Community Shred It Day event held in March. The Key Club chose Family Promise as the recipient of a free will donation during their public shred day event that was part of their community service program and co-sponsored by Snyder Funeral Homes. Family Promise provides housing and support for families and individuals transitioning from a homeless situation to stable housing. The Buckeye Valley High School Key Club is a Kiwanis sponsored organization that offers its members opportunities to serve, build character and develop leadership skills. The Key Club is sponsored locally by the Kiwanis Club of Delaware County (noonkiwanisdelaware@gmail.com), an organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club (noonkiwanisdelaware@gmail.com) meets weekly on Thursday at noon, at the Old Bag of Nails in downtown Delaware.

This week at our wells Thursday meeting we had the pleasure to hear from Girl Scout Troop Leader Amy Feaderer! We kicked off Girl Scout week! Amy is a third year troop leader in Olentangy! She and her family moved to the area about 6 years ago! She shared with our club about some really amazing things the girls scout troop is doing! Our weekly speaker was Dr. Grace Walton, who is a hospitalist at Grady and Dublin Methodist hospitals. As she is also on staff at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as Complex Care Physician for children with neuro development disabilities. Dr. Walton is a native of Columbus as she graduated from Upper Arlington High School, received her undergraduate from The Ohio State University in biology, she continued her medical degree at OSU with honors! She completed her residency at University of Rochester in upstate New York. Dr. Walton is dual certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. Thank you Dr. Walton for your heart for medicine and the children!

Members of our club volunteered with People In Need to pack 462 baking bags on Friday! We also had a group of memebers volunteered this morning again with People in Need preparing for the Christmas Clearing House! We helped pack a lot of bags! We welcome you to come and try Kiwanis out if you have a desire to give back our community!

If you missed our weekly meeting on Thursday our speaker was one of our members; Mark A. Larrick with the Salvation Army. Mark spoke about how he was called to help in New Jersey in September; with the clean up from hurricane Ida. Mark was in NJ for about 2 weeks. He and the team he was on delivered almost 1,000 food boxes and clean up kits. They served over 2,500 people in the time he was there. Thank you Mark for your heat of serving and thank you Salvation Army for assisting in the clean up and restoring cities that were effected.
