Every year, I usually do a courtesy post reminding clients of the importance of rescheduling appointments when sick (similar to the one below from 2022). Believe me, I understand that when youāre under the weather, you think a massage will make it better, but the sad reality is that itās very uncomfortable to be on the table fighting coughs and congestion AND depending on the illness, massage could make you worse.
This year my family and I had been doing a great job of dodging the many varieties of crud going around. That was, untilā¦a few weeks ago when nasty colds hit our house. I had been feeling about 95% over mine (just a lingering dry cough) until yesterday. This cold has come back with a vengeance, far worse than first time around. Iām unsure if this is the same virus flaring back up or something new on top of what I had. What I do know is itās incredibly frustrating and a huge inconvenience.
Massage therapists canāt work sick. Itās beyond miserable. Congested, nose running all over as our hands are occupied, physical exhaustion as weāre expending so much of our energy to the client on the table, not to mention, possibly sharing our crud with you!
Today - I had to cancel (mutual decision) my afternoon clients and my entire day tomorrow due to this damn cold. This isnāt about pointing fingers because I know thereās sooo much going around and itās really a miracle I made it February without catching something sooner! Itās more about the *inconvenienceā factor. Now I have to figure out where and how I can reschedule a day and a half of clients when I only have 5 remaining openings at this point for the entire month of March! (Insert* gratitude for having this problem, but also a little stress). Not to mention, the big oneā¦I donāt get paid sick leave! That isā¦.until today.āŗļø
Today was the first time in 18 years Iāve gotten sick pay from an amazing client who totally gets it. š
It was the most unexpected, kind, touching gesture that totally made my day.
And nowā¦to pay it forward. āŗļø
