In case you missed our August newsletter, former Ohio State football player Harry Miller will be the keynote speaker at our Annual Meeting on September 25 at the Delaware County Byxbe Building.

Harry made international headlines when he medically retired from football in 2022 because of mental health challenges. He has since become an outspoken advocate and a champion for those seeking care. He speaks to groups around the country while also serving as president of the nonprofit organization Don't Make It Weird, which seeks to reduce stigmas against people who pursue behavioral healthcare treatment.

Former Ohio State football player Harry Miller will bring his message of mental health recovery to the Board's Annual Meeting on September 25.

Thank you to Commissioners and all of our partners for your continued support of our residents living in recovery. People can and do recover and go on to live enriching lives, thanks to everyone who works to ensure access to effective, high-quality local behavioral healthcare services.

Today in session, the Commissioners were joined by the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, the Delaware County, OHIO, Sheriff's Office and the Delaware Public Health District to recognize September as National Recovery Month. Substance use and mental health disorders are treatable, and this month reminds us that people should seek assistance for these conditions with the same urgency as they would any other health condition. More than 10,000 Delaware County residents received behavioral healthcare services from the county’s publicly funded system in the first half of fiscal year 2025.

Staff members from our Board and our providers spent this morning with Morrow County Commissioners as they signed a proclamation declaring September to be Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. We are so blessed to have commissioners in both of our counties who value the live-saving work that our providers deliver every day.
