The SAFE Delaware County Coalition, led by the Delaware Public Health District, reviews every traffic death in our county — a sobering reminder of how important safe driving is, especially during the busy holiday months.

In 2024, 20 lives were lost in 19 crashes — five of those during November and December. So far this year, 14 lives have been lost in 10 crashes. Alarmingly, many were due to drivers crossing the center line or not wearing seat belts.

SAFE invites the community to join us in remembering these lives during the Worldwide Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims on November 14 at noon, at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post (1500 Columbus Pike, Delaware) or via Facebook livestream.

Tell your teenagers they have to agree to 5 rules to drive: no cell phones, no extra passengers, no speeding, no alcohol, and buckle-up. Set the rules before they hit the road.
