MVC Vehicle vs Tractor Trailer

On January 7, 2026 Delmar Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer. Command 74 arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVC blocking the entire Southbound side of Sussex Highway (Rt 13) at Line Road. Two patients had no injuries and refused EMS. Rescue 74 assisted the tow truck driver with loading the mangled vehicle and cleaned up debris. Sussex Highway was closed for approximately 30 minutes.

Vehicle Fire at Salvage Yard

On Sunday, December 20th, 2025, Delmar Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle accident with exposures at a salvage yard on Whitesville Road. Station 74 had two staffed crews and responded immediately. Car 74 with Chief 74 arrived to find a vehicle on fire at the rear of the complex. As 74-1 was finding the best route to the vehicle at the muddy lot, a worker at the facility was able to pick the vehicle up with a piece of heavy machinery and bring it out from the rear. Crews from Engine 74-1 and Engine Tanker 74-2 were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Crews operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes, with an additional hour of clean up when returning.
