Just after 2pm, Station 74 was alerted for a vehicle accident. Units arrived on scene and found a pickup in the woods after colliding with a tractor trailer. One patient was transported with minor injuries.

As many of you know, one of our Engineers, Carroll Nicholson had complications after back surgery that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Our community came in big time selling out a chicken dinner fundraiser as well as helping him get a bathroom remodel and a ramp.

This week, Carroll started inpatient physical therapy at a local rehabilitation facility. The progress is nothing short of a miracle and determination!

The Delmar Fire Department and Nicholson family thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers.

August 11, 2025. Motor Vehicle Collision. Delmar Fire Dept responded near the intersection of Bi-State Boulevard and W. Snake Road for a vehicle collision. The intersection was closed while Fire and EMS units worked and Delaware State Police investigated.

Assist Laurel with Attic Fire

On Tuesday, July 29th, Sussex EOC alerted Laurel, Delmar and Sharptown Fire Departments for a house fire west of the town of Laurel. Command 81 (Lowe) arrived on scene with smoke showing from the eaves. Crews from Laurel Fire Department made an aggressive interior attack and found a working fire in the attic. Engine Tanker 74-2 arrived second and went to the roof with the crew from staffed engine 87-5 to cut a vent hole to relieve smoke and heat for the crews in the attic. Additional crews from Sharptown and Laurel provided overhaul and RIT.

On July 28th, Truck 74 staffed with 5 responded to assist Blades Fire as the second due truck. Truck 74 arrived, took the Charlie side. The crew laddered the roof and performed overhaul operating for 2 hours.
