“All my life, I’ve wanted to be a tread-baddy. Since childhood, it’s been my ultimate aspiration. I joined Orangetheory in hopes of achieving that goal. When David walked into OTF Greenville just two months ago, he was ready for more. More strength. More energy. More Life.

At 40, he hadn’t worked out consistently since college. But he knew it was time to make a change — not just for himself, but for his family. Now, those 5 a.m. classes have become his foundation, his reset, and his proof that it’s never too late to start again.

"I’ve seen real improvements, I’m getting faster, stronger, and feeling better overall. My body has been used and abused over the years with multiple surgeries and broken bones, but this program has significantly improved both my mental and physical health. Huge thank you to the incredible OTF coaches for pushing me, keeping me accountable, and making every class something I look forward to.”

Meet: COACH BEN

Your Background — how did you get into fitness?
My fitness journey began at 320 pounds, when I decided it was time to take control of my health and appearance. As I explored different training styles and programs, fitness became more than just a goal — it became a lifestyle. That passion led me to earn my NASM certification so I could help others find their own path toward change, just as I did.

Your Orangetheory Journey — what brought you here, and what keeps you going?
I was first introduced to Orangetheory through a friend who had achieved incredible results. After just one class, I was hooked — the structure, the energy, and the challenge were exactly what I needed. I loved that every workout was pre-designed, allowing me to show up and give my all. I started as a power walker, eventually became a runner, and began lifting heavier while significantly improving my endurance.

Your Personal Life — where are you from, hobbies, fun facts?
Outside the studio, I’m all about fishing, lifting, golfing, and drumming. Before stepping into the coaching world, I toured the globe as a drummer with Holland America Cruise Line. I’ve traveled to six of the seven continents, with some of my favorite destinations being Quebec, Australia, Bora Bora, South Africa, and various parts of Europe.

Favorite OTF Workout Format:
ESP days — I love the variety and the challenge of pushing all systems.

Favorite Exercise:
The 2000-meter row — I’m highly competitive and currently working toward hitting a 6-minute flat time!

Go-To Post-Workout Fuel:
A hearty Chipotle bowl with double chicken — packed with flavor and protein.
