March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 💙
Did you know? The colon is another name for the large intestine (or large bowel), and the re**um is the passageway that connects the colon to the a**s. Most colorectal cancers begin as noncancerous growths called polyps. The good news is that removing polyps can help prevent cancer.
Healthcare providers recommend regular screenings for adults over the age of 45 and for those at higher risk. Screening tests can:
✔️ Detect precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer
✔️ Find colorectal cancer early, when treatment is most effective
There are several types of screening tests available. Talk with your doctor to determine which option is best for you.
