**What if your nervous system and your energy system are telling the same story?**
Lately, it seems like everyone is talking about nervous system regulation.
And while I think that's important, I sometimes wonder if we're missing something.
Long before I ever heard terms like polyvagal theory, coherence, or vagal tone, I was working with people energetically.
What fascinated me was that people carried patterns.
Patterns of fear.
Patterns of grief.
Patterns of self-protection.
Patterns of over-giving.
Patterns of silence.
These patterns didn't just show up in their thoughts.
They showed up in their energy.
The more I studied, the more I began noticing something else.
The nervous system appeared to organize around many of the same life experiences that shaped the energetic system.
A child who didn't feel safe often developed a different energetic pattern than one who did.
A person who experienced loss carried a different energetic signature than someone who hadn't.
A lifetime of criticism, abandonment, betrayal, caregiving, responsibility, or people-pleasing seemed to leave an imprint on both.
Not because one caused the other.
But because both systems were adapting to the same events.
This is where my view differs from much of what I see today.
I don't believe healing is only about regulating the nervous system.
Nor do I believe healing is only about balancing energy.
I believe both systems are expressions of how we organized ourselves around life.
And when we begin changing the underlying pattern, both systems respond.
The energy shifts.
The physiology shifts.
The person shifts.
Perhaps the future of healing isn't deciding whether everything is energy or everything is biology.
Perhaps it's understanding that they have been speaking about the same human experience all along.
That is the conversation I believe we need to be having.
What are your thoughts?
